Lee Min-Ho, 29, had the nicest things to say about his "The Legend of the Blue Sea" co-star Jun Ji-Hyun. The former recently shared his honest thoughts about what it is like to work with the latter.

On Nov. 17, Harper's Bazaar Korea released Lee's recent pictorial for its December issue. Displaying a manly aura, the Hallyu star sported a comfortable clothing in knitted sweaters and a pair of pants.

In the accompanying interview with the magazine, as cited by The Kpop Herald, Lee talked about "The Legend of the Blue Sea" and delightedly shared his experience working with Jun. He said the SBS fantasy drama has a refreshing tone with surprising twists and turns that will surely bring fun and laughter to the viewers.

"The Heirs" actor then praised his co-star's personality, stating Jun is exactly the way she appears and that she does not hide anything. He added, "She is just so charming."

It comes after Lee admitted he was initially intimidated by the "My Sassy Girl" actress, revealing they started off awkwardly. Nonetheless, just like other on-screen couples, Lee and Jun slowly got comfortable with each other.

"After we got comfortable, our reactions toward each other got better and our chemistry became smoother," Antara News Agency quoted Lee as saying at the drama's press conference on Nov. 15, as cited by The Jakarta Post. "I hope this will have a good result."

Directed by Jin Hyuk and Park Seon-Ho, "The Legend of the Blue Sea" recounts the timeless love story between the last mermaid on Earth, Shim Chung (Jun) and Kim Dam-Lim/Heo Joon-Jae (Lee). It is based on a script penned by Park Ji-Eun.

The SBS drama, however, will be the last acting role for Lee before he fulfills his military obligation. The Hallyu star will reportedly fill in as a non-military service worker at some point in 2017 rather than enlisting in the army.

SBS has reached its prime time for weekly ratings.

Monday/Tuesday, Wednesday/Thursday and weekend dramas have all won the hearts of viewers as it takes over the number one spot for viewer ratings for the week.

For Mondays and Tuesdays, "Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim" takes the number one spot for every episode aired so far. The first episode itself had a 9.5% rating. The most recent episode received a 13.8% rating.

Wednesdays and Thursdays is "THE LEGEND OF THE BLUE SEA" with a 16.4% viewer rating after airing the first episode. That is the highest rating for the first episode out of all the dramas aired this year.

Weekend drama "My Gap-soon" has continued to rise in weekly ratings each week, with a 13.7% rating for the most recent episode.

Many are curious to see how long this winning streak will be for SBS.

“The Legend Of The Blue Sea†Answers Three Questions About Jun Ji Hyun’s Mermaid Character

jun-ji-hyun.jpg&key=89ea081fd96f0a52629c

The hot new SBS drama “The Legend of the Blue Sea,†starring Lee Min Ho and Jun Ji Hyun, is garnering a lot of interest – and also a lot of questions about Jun Ji Hyun’s mermaid character.

Recently, the production staff of the drama sat down to answer a few of those questions.

Spoilers

1. What is the color of Jun Ji Hyun’s tail?

In Episode 1, when Jun Ji Hyun was captured by greedy humans, the scales on her tail were gold. But in the current storyline they are silver. What happened?

Each mermaid has a unique tail color. The mermaid who met Dam Ryung (Lee Min Ho) back then had golden scales, and the mermaid who met Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho) in the modern day has silver scales. Just like Dam Ryung had a relationship with the golden mermaid, Joon Jae will also have a relationship with the silver mermaid. The two stories will unfold side by side and soon the viewers will understand how they are related.

2. What are the powers of mermaids and how do they affect the human world?

In Episode 2, it is revealed that mermaids communicate through telepathy, leading to a comic scene where a mermaid learns human language for the first time. The mermaid had the ability to absorb human language, culture, and even fighting techniques quickly, blowing away a group of gangsters with a powerful kick.

In Episode 1, one old fisherman said, “If a human lays hands on a mermaid, she can take away his soul and erase his memory. This is meant to defend mermaids against human attacks, but how it will affect the relationship between the mermaid and the human will unfold in the third part of the drama.

3. How did Jun Ji Hyun create the mermaid character?

Bringing a mermaid to life is no easy task – the actor has to perform underwater and then work has to be done in post-production. For many of her scenes Jun Ji Hyun needed to act as if swimming in deep water was natural and easy, with relaxed facial expressions. For the role, Jun Ji Hyun trained in swimming beforehand.

To make her job more difficult, the CGI that needed to be added later meant that she had to perform in a green chroma mermaid suit. Despite the lack of oxygen, the water pressure, and potential hypothermia, Jun Ji Hyun impressed the staff with her dedication to her craft.

'The Legend of the Blue Sea' Jun Ji Hyun fought off hypothermia to become a perfect mermaid!

Jun Ji Hyun from 'The Legend of the Blue Sea' apparently fought off hypothermia while filming the beautiful mermaid scenes in the ocean!

On November 21, the staff of the drama released a behind-the-scene video and a story from the making of the mermaid scene. In the video, Jun Ji Hyun can be seen swimming skillfully into the ocean without hesitation, working hard to portray a mysterious sea creature. Even though the viewers only saw one scene, the actress had to repeat swimming dozens of times.

Staff report that Jun Ji Hyun did not complain or imply that she was tired but showed off her sense of humor while filming. The actress also had to wear a heavy mermaid suit that made her breathing difficult, but it did not stop her from portraying a graceful mermaid. Staff were also surprised by Jun Ji Hyun's hard work despite risks of hypothermia due to being in the water for so long.

Jun Ji Hyun Gets “Shell-Shocked†By Seoul On “The Legend Of The Blue Seaâ€

SBS has released new stills for the upcoming episode of “The Legend of the Blue Sea.â€

The next episode centers on Jun Ji Hyun’s character experiencing the city of Seoul for the first time.

Thus far the drama has provided comedic scenes featuring her mermaid character adjusting to human life. It looks like more laughs are potentially in store for viewers as her character reacts to the streets of Seoul.

While holding a large shell in one hand and a flyer in the other, she looks lost as crowds of people pass by her. Furthermore, she looks longingly at some street food and appears to be hungry. Interestingly enough, her co-star Lee Min Ho is not by her side, leading viewers to speculate about how they got separated.

You can watch the mermaid experience Seoul life when the next episode airs on November 23.
