According to Birth.Movies.Death, sources close to Tom Hiddleston are saying that he is in “advanced talks†to take over the role from Daniel Craig.

The article cites "sources close to Tom Hiddleston" and says, "If you’ve read the Bond coverage on this site, you know we don’t run tabloid rumours or speculation without clearly identifying them as such."

It continues: "Choosing words carefully, our source confirms that while talks have indeed taken place, and that Hiddleston very much wants the job (a fact of which he’s made no secret), no official offer has been made – yet."

Tom Hiddleston hasn’t been shy about his desire for the role, stating that he’s a “huge fan†of James Bond, and would love to be given the chance to take on the role.Recently, the actor went to dinner with Sam Mendes, who directed two installments Skyfall and Spectre. However, Sony has yet to make any announcement.

If Tom Hiddleston takes the legendary role, he will be the eighth actor to play James Bond, after Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. Some experts said that Tom's appearance is really suitable for playing the British agent.

Since the role of Loki in Avengers, Tom's acting career is getting more and more successful. Last year, he has succeed in playing in High-Rise, I Saw The Light and  AMC's 6-episode series The Night Manager. Hiddleston made waves recently with his appearance in The Night Manager, a BBC/AMC adaptation of the John Le Carre spy thriller of the same name. In The Night Manager, Hiddleston plays Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier who takes on a dangerous undercover mission to infiltrate the world of international arms dealers. The six-part miniseries shares much of the same DNA as a typical Bond film: exotic locales, a glamorous depiction of espionage, and of course dangerous romantic entanglements. Some critics have characterized Hiddleston’s turn in The Night Manager as an informal audition for James Bond, since suave and dangerous Jonathan Pine has an awful lot in common with 007.

In any case, best to treat these Hiddleston reports as a rumour for now. But with all this intense speculation, surely some official word from Eon can’t be too far away.
