Now begins ‘2PM’s Relay Diary’ where you will hear from 2PM members on how they are doing nowadays and what they are thinking about. The fifth member who will share his story through ‘2PM’s Relay Diary’ is Jang Woo-young. He has been having fruitful summer days by studying song-writing and designing. Woo-young shares how he has been doing through STARCAST. Le’ts take a peek into the summer days of Woo-young, the guy who is sensitive, serious, and sensible, but humorous at the same time. Let’s go~ Written by Woo-young (2PM) Photograph: Woo-young, JYP Entertainment Hello, all! This is Jang Woo-young. How are you doing in this muggy weather? Since the end of the 2PM promotion, I have been spending time studying songwriting, reading, and watching movies in a more relaxed ambience than before. This is Jang Woo-young. Here is my workroom where I spend most of my time there days. I open here for the first time on STARCAST The memory of the first performance of my first self-composed song ‘This Is Love’, following its inclusion in 2PM’s album GROWN Grand Edition, keeps flashing back to my mind. I came to decide to make better songs and sing them for fans, who were surprised at it, but showed affection and support. I composed, wrote, and arranged my first work ‘This is love’. I wanted to create my first work totally on my own. It was all possible thanks to Ji-sang and Jae-sung who are my reliable friends. I am learning piano playing from Jae-sung, which allowed me to enjoy music even more and to feel freed. When I play the piano, I am happy as much as when I dance. I am not very good yet, but I am dreaming of playing the piano for my solo performance someday. (Please look forward to it!) I had the pain of creation as a composer during the whole process of working on my first self-composed song ‘This is love’. I had a chance to think and agonize a lot.. This is Ji-sang who always teaches and helps me a lot. Thank you, Ji-sang! And this is Super Chang Ddai! I talk a lot with him as well. I am learning how a professional works from him. He tries not to miss a little detail. He always teaches me anything about music anytime and anywhere. Together with Super Chang Ddai. My beloved Chang-dai who always teaches me even though he is busy! He is such a nice producer!! Do you want to see me playing? I performed my first self-composed song ‘This Is Love’ in 2PM’s Seoul concert. My friends helped me with it a lot. I am studying hard to present you with good music. Please look forward to it! I have more free time now. I go to exhibitions or concerts. Last month, I was invited to the exhibition of the world-renowned pop artist Takashi Murakami. He is my favorite artist. I was really happy to see fresh, novel, and interesting works and to meet with Mr. Takashi Murakami in person. What’s more, I was delighted and honored to know that he invited me since he knows about 2PM. I was invited to the exhibition with the model Jang Yoon-joo. My eyes were riveted to his works. Together with Takashi Murakami I went to the concert of Quincy Jones who visited Korea. He is a famous person well-known as the producer of my idol Michael Jackson. As soon as I heard the news of the 80-year-old artist visiting Korea, I immediately went to see him. I was overwhelmed with emotion in his concert. I was just respectful. Actually, I was in awe. There was no way of describing him except for the word ‘amazing’. I think that I am still reeling from the overwhelming feeling. He makes me want to become a singer and actor who can impress someone like that. I should make much more effort to do so. I got playful at the concert rehearsal! I am totally engrossed in piano-playing. I am revisiting my passion for design, the area that I liked in my childhood. I still have keen interest in it and I really wanted to learn it from a professional. Now I am learning from the game art director and movie concept artist Cho Min-soo. 2PM’s stylist who takes care of our hair and makeup introduced him to me, knowing that I am interested in interior design. At first, we talked about interior design but I found myself learning many new and different things from him. Since then I have been meeting him frequently and shared our ideas. I am learning really a lot from him. Min-soo worked for the Korean movies, Sweet Life, Monster, and Snowpiercer. He also participated in the Hollywood movie Speedracer. His job is at the foremost front of creativity. Just drawing well is not important. The point is a well-conceived idea. I realized the importance of deep thinking on creation rather than great drawing skills or techniques. I am studying and thinking about how to create a meaningful design to have a positive impact on many people and what item I can use to incorporate the concept into. Together with Min-soo at his workroom. I am having fun in learning my interest area. I’m learning a lot from Min-Soo. Thank you! On August 9, I performed with my classmates for the gala show by college students in Seoul Musical Festival. I have much experience in concerts and TV shows, but this time I felt different. The moments spent together practicing together in sweat with my classmates were precious. I played Simba from the Musical ‘Lion King’. I think that I made it thanks to the help of my classmates. (Thank you!) I visited Busan in a long time. Busan is more beautiful at summer night. How did you like my story? I am trying to become a more mature Jang Woo-young by having time to focus on myself and upgrade myself. Thanks to my cool friends who help me with music, I am taking one step further as the musician Jang Woo-young. I always do my best to improve myself. Please give me a lot of support! Do you think the 2pm comeback is actually Woo's solo comeback? - no, because if it's only Wooyoung, and they say "we coming back soon", the hottest who are not Wooyoung stan are going to be upset, they just can't do that. if they don't want pressure Wooyoung, they just have to say nothing. In my personal opinion, I want him to do a solo, but I like it more if it's a 2pm's comeback. I'm glad that he take all his time to do this album, and also because he want do it himself. I really hope this album to do really well, because we really can see how hard he work to do it. He deserves it. 3. What concept would you like Woo to go for? - anything but cute/flower boy concept loool ^that :p But since the dance is his first passion, I hope a song with a lot of dance for his tittle track (but different than sexy lady) 4.Would you like it if Woo did acting again?
