Hey guys!!!! So for those who've been following the threads, here is the new producer/songwriter I would like to talk about. It's almost a 360 from the previous two. Now this one is verrry well-know and acclaimed for his contribution to K-HipHop and K-Pop in general. Without him, there would probably be no YG Ent. (at least as we know it today). I'm talking about:

The fact that he himself produced all major hits spawned by YG is sign that he is instrumental (no pun intended) in the rise to success of this company today. He's crafted the sleek urban k-pop sound that's now made YG stand out as a company that will (no matter their shenanigans) release quality top notch music (made "in-house") reaching internation audiences effortlessly!! YG's pannel of producers must generally be expected to create such a quality sound. Well, they have a great example they can learn from.

Teddy is amazing. Also all the money he has made by being attached to these top class brands like BB & 2NE1 is amazing too.

 

He didn't have anything to do with the biggest YG hits though. He wasn't even around 2007-2008 when history was made.

Teddy does help a lot but let's be honest, he's not the only one who turn YG into the big3. And the co-wrote/produced was not just only him. GD, TOP and Teayang was a big part of it too.

 

GD written songs-yes mean he wrote the lyrics and got the help from Teddy and TOP that's why he got credit for it. Same thing with produced.

 

Teayang- ELN was also written by Taeyang( I remember he mention it somewhere)

actually ıts about copyrights. they all registered as GD & Teddy..PSY &Teddy...Taeyang &Teddy..

with this way Teddy can't give a rights of performing this songs to the other artists! no cover, no sound copy, no copying the lyrics at other artists songs, no performance!...ıts belongs GD, PSY, or Taeyang too and nothing can happen without their permission... they are controlling the producers in best way...

 

but also ıt doesnt mean this songs are belong Teddy! no one knows how much he contributed! even ıf he was active at 10% process they have to give credit to him bc at first hand companies making contract with producers with some conditions...he also takes his profit whenever ıt used by company...

 

so no one can claim Teddy is the one who owned this songs and made them popular! we don't even know how much he contributed.

A large majority of YG's groups hit songs in the past 6 years have his name on it. While its true that he didn't help with the songs that shot Bigbang to success, he did help with the songs that continue to sustain their succes and make them an international success as well. Until 2NE1's last album where CL wrote and produced alot, Teddy was practically their sole writer and producer. So, he is behind some of their biggest hits. He may not have had a say in their styling, but 2NE1's music is what made them stand out and he is behind that.

As a Taeyang fan, Teddy has done a wonderful job working with Taeyang (I'll act like they didn't come up with the atrocity that is Body)

I haven't been as enthusiast about his latest works as I was in the past but that's probably because he is used way too much and it's starting to feel repetitive. He's definitely one of if not the best producer in kpop tough.

Yaas, thanks for this! Personally I prefer choice37 for BB songs but no doubt Teddy has made some of the most iconic kpop songs for both BB and 2NE1

 

I'd argue that behind JYP and maaybe GD, he's probably the most successful composer of the modern kpop era

You know what is happening is the complete opposite!!!

I don't know about 2ne1 since I don't follow them closely, but Most if not all of the time teddy is brought up just to belittle GD, OP here being the prime example deliberately not mentioning teddy co-producing these songs ( probably one of those people who believe if they repeated something so much it becomes reality lol).

 

 

No one discredict teddy, we are so happy for him and choice, kush and everyone else who helps BB/GD achieve their goals, and bless us with the amazing music, and make some pressed souls forever bothered by it ^^

Teddy deserves the credit where its due but I am not a fan of people belittling the groups contribution by using teddy.

Everyone who really cares already knows how much Teddy is involved & how much he is appreciated & respected by the groups and the fans and he in the end is a producer under YH, he is doing his job and he does it excellently.

But saying that Teddy didn't co-produced but produced because group members cannot be considered as actual producers like the op is suggesting?

While when the time comes to hate and be shitty, everyone drags GD for being the sole controller and for ruining Bigbang songs with his imprint acting like he alone is responsible. He was dragged in 2012, last year everywhere for not being up to par and being the one who should be blamed for not being up to the standards of non VIPs and people who don't even care.

But when the songs become major hits, and its time to 'appreciate' and 'credit' --- suddenly he isn't contributing because he is a group member, not an actual producer and its all thanks to Teddy who produces all their hit songs.

I am all for crediting and appreciating but I am not here for the blatant ill intent masked behind the appreciation.

Where was this nonsense sentiment that group members don't count as producers when Bigbang songs were being bashed? People were happily blaming it all on GD. Where was this sentiment of Teddy being the sole producer then?
