To answer OP , more money and profits. Not to mention, a total package like BoA isn't easily found. Look at Zhang Liyin, I think she was media played as the Chinese BoA but she ended going back to training for some reasons after debut and then lost the hype. Soloists need to be very pretty and talented and excel in both to have a chance in SM at least to debut as a soloist, artists like BoA exemplify the perfect balance. mon chan 4,645 Posted May 22, 2016 Share Posted May 22, 2016 It's no more era of soloists when there were big names like BoA, Rain or Lee Hyori, look at how profitable idol groups are, there's no reason for a big corporation like SM to produce soloist. Or if there's any one potential they are mostly exported overseas where soloists can sell, just like what SM did to J-min, but now they completely ignore her anw, sigh . Yesung co-wrote and composed his own title track. it's fine if you don't like their songs or find them boring but stop with the projection. just because you don't like them it doesn't mean the idols themselves couldn't possibly like let alone willingly choose/make them.
