Goddess of Fantasy 11
I wonder if Tzuyu's korean name is Joo Hee. Is that true? I saw it in their recent ceci photoshoot.if that's true why they didnt go by the name from the very beginning. I personally like her name spelled as Ziyu
Ihavepopcorn 12,815
Why would they spell it as 'Ziyu' when that's not how it's pronounced?
A Saint 524
Why would they spell it as 'Ziyu' when that's not how it's pronounced? I think thats how its pronounced in Chinese? Probably the most authentic way of pronouncing her name
Guest
Why would they spell it as 'Ziyu' when that's not how it's pronounced? That's her real name. But there's no way to pronounce it the same in korean (korean writing) so they use Tzuyu. I also thought that they could give her a korean version of her name like Joohee. But maybe they prefer Tzuyu, it's unique (:
Ducky2322 439
Yeah the chinese pronunciation is "jooyee" but the korean pronunciation is "chuwee", which is close.

faye 180
i don't know how to explain this in english lol. i'll try tho her name doesn't really sound like zoo-yoo like a lot of people seem to believe. it's more zÇ as in zuh (emphasis on the z) and yù as in yee. but the pronunciation of zÇ uses the third tone in mandarin so it's really hard for some people. so it's better to opt to call her zoo-yee tbh because that's the closest people can get without butchering her name lmao and from what i know, isn't her name in korean more like joo-wi? which is why some people just call her chewy. bc i know wang joey is called wang johee in korea edit: oh you wrote "joohee" and not "johee"
