What if Korean idols/celebs date Japanese idols/celebs?

Recommended Posts

I think it depends on the celeb.

In general it probably wouldn't be that big of a deal, but there would be some negativity from both sides. There's already negativity from both sides though, so that's nothing new.

I think it would be harder for a Korean female idol/celeb to date a Japanese male idol/celeb.

I can just IMAGINE the k-netizen comments.

A thought just crossed my mind. What if Yoona is seeing one of the most well-liked Japanese celebs in the eyes of Koreans (like Haruma Miura or Yamapi - I think these guys are well-liked in Korea, If I'm not mistaken?) Are the k-netz/public gonna praise her? or are they gonna say those guys are too good for Yoona? Or are they gonna say she shouldn't date a Japanese at all, its disgrace?

GD has. Kiko? But she's not actually Japanese but still.

kiko isn't japanese nor she is considered one in japan, she's half korean

so it's not really the same

I agree with you on that second part of the comment tho

Yeah, Kiko doesn't count as Zainichi Koreans are not considered Japanese in Japan. I actually think there would be a bigger backlash from the Japanese side, but I could be wrong.

I remember there being an article on GD and Kiko and the J-netizens were pretty much like why the hell are you talking about 2 Koreans as if we care.

Yoona isn't fluent in Japanese so unlikely lol but I understand what you're trying to say.

K-Netz would most definitely not praise her. They'd call her a traitor and most likely say she could do better.

honestly i really dont know i think the older generation when be the main ones to critisize and the younger generation (minus K-Netz) just wouldn't make a fuss out of it

The older generation (40+?) wouldn't even care what celeb dates who except for the otaku fans. You said 'minus K-Netz' but it is the Japanese netizens (the vocal netouyo type) who are notorious for loudly criticizing anything related to Korea indiscriminately. They are just much less exposed in English than K-nets. As for the general public in either country, they may have an opinion if you ask them but they wouldn't really care as it doesn't affect their life at all.

I think it depends on the standing of both idols in their respective countries and the public perception of them in each others countries too. But generally I think that there would be a bigger backlash from Koreans more so than from the Japanese, especially if it was a female Korean idol dating a male Japanese idol because of the history of comfort women/ exploitation of Korean women by Japanese men.

Its not unlikely tbh. I remember someone said that if you want to be good at a foreign language, learning it with a boyfriend/girlfriend who speaks that language/from that country works. its effective.
