lol jaekhee didn't die.

annyeong jaekhee.

awww i feel so bad for David Choi. he's so nice to Botong.

it's as if she's taking advantage of him, which is bad because it'll be even harder for her to say goodbye to him later.

So I'm not the only one.  I actually think BoTong and David make a lovely couple.  I tend to root for the underdog and so I'm finding myself rooting for this couple.

I think as the story progresses, we may see BoTong maturing also.  I mean I see even Mate's character being developed and changed as the story progresses so it would make sense to do the same with BoTong though that maturity may come about because of Mate.

Anyways, I loved this scene from ep 1 (or was it ep 2)

So, MT is supposed to learn from 10 women.  So I think he may get a different style for each of the women.  So maybe 6-8 different hair style?

Anyways, this drama is keeping me entertained and it's not shallow as I thought it would be.

I predict woman #10 is going to be Botong and he's going to have to learn "how to love someone" or something along those lines

idk it sounds corny but it's your typical Kdrama lol

Oh that would be awesome.  I didn't really think this pairing would work but I'm slowly seeing it now.  They're so cute!

Here's some fan compiled pics

There's more but I was really surprised by how visually compatible they actually are.

Here's another pic for the drama

that scene was hilarious.

i think eps 3 & 4 were less funny than the first two.

Hmm... I think 3 and 4 had their moments but it looks like the writers were trying to add other elements into the drama.  I mean in ep 3, you had Mate finally getting the lesson about money from Jaekhee and getting a little more background info about Yura and what not.  We got to see a little more of the MIL and her husband and step son, yura's ex, along with her daughter.

I loved Botongie in Mate's place trying on his clothes and rapping at the same time.  It was so funny esp the toothbrush scene.  Anyways, here's some more gifs

I laughed at the Mate and Botongie scene above.  He's acting so cool and what not and she goes and ruins it.

@helenzee,

Right now, I think he sees Bo Tongie as more like a friend?  Someone that he just takes for granted.

In any case, I was super amazed at the difference in IU from her PM press conference to being Botongie in the drama

tumblr_mx1xewRBXz1qz9daco1_500.jpg

and such a different image from Red Shoes too

For those of you who don't like JGS's hair, it seems he agrees

yeah it's kinda sad because he hasn't done anything for her while she does everything for him.

good haha. thankfully hairstyles are not permanent.

Yes, thank God that bad style is not forever.

I was thinking the same lol but thank God the noodle hair will be gone.

I like Botong and Choi David together, they make a cute team.

JGS's character still reminds me of Y'rB.

I loved CD and BT together but I"m waiting for the writers to flesh out MT and BT more.  You can tell that while BT is like a lovesick fan girl, she has his best intentions at heart.  She wants him to be happy even if it doesn't mean her.  I see a lot of growing up for both MT and BT although I would say that MT has more growing up to do than BT at this point.  I can see bits of the spunky, independent, and caring girl in BT and I would like to see the writers develop her a lot more.  Her character has so much potential!

As for MT, he has a lot of growing up to do.  I mean he has been exposed to the world but he's still not that savy as the episode with the store rental has shown.

I can see MT, BT, and CD being a lot of fun.  Even the MIL, Yura, and other characters are starting to take shape.

Probably a dream lol.

This show just keeps getting better and better.

I hope it continues to cute and llighthearted.

Yes, I'm actually enjoying it being very funny with a dash of drama.  Based on the PV for tomorrow's episode, I guess we'll get to see Yura's MIL more.  That lady has got the cold act down!  I think she can make a very interesting antagonist.  Although it seems like Yura is also very calculating and not very nice either.

This scene from today was good!

Definitely, I like that it's not too angsty and I hope it stays that way. Honestly, the MIL scares me if I was Yura I wouldn't mess with her.

So cute .... my favorite scene he's adorable when he's jealous lol.

hahah agreed but MIL and Yura are alike.  I got that impression esp after her crying session with MT and when she was getting on the elevator after that.  That was all an act!

The fact that MIL scared you is a good sign.  I mean I think she can even make a grown man be afraid.  I kind of see the MIL as the older, more experienced version of Yura.  Looking forward to Ep 6!

i'm really hoping JGS, IU, and U-KISS will sing some OSTs for the show as well.

I can see IU & JGS doing an duet since they are the main couple.  I would love to see them do a duet or something for the drama.

Maybe an OST from U-Kiss with Hoon, Kevin, & SoHyun (?)?

I think that's the vocal lineup for U-Kiss, right?

Please say there is a change of some kind in his personality.  I don't mind his being a twat, but the blandness needs to go!  As for IU's character, someone I know says she didn't like IU's character because it's very girly.  However, taking her being an eel into account, she is bound to focus on JKS more and doesn't like any girls paired up with him.

it's a slow but gradual change.  i can see him maturing little by little.  by end of ep 5, he truly appreciates and knows the gratification of earning money through his efforts, not just through women.

speaking of singing -

[iNFO] Singer Hwanhee will be making his return to the music scene with an OST for the KBS 2TV drama 'Pretty Man'.

His agency announced on December 3, "Hwanhee has wrapped up recording for the 'Pretty Man' OST, and it's currently undergoing mastering." The track is set to be the main theme for the drama, which also stars Hwanhee's cousin Lee Jang Woo.

there aren't too many female characters in the drama land that are truly capable and that immune to men.  i mean generally when they are portrayed that way, they are evil/bad or something.  take for example the mil in bm who is really capable but also comes across as very, very not a nice person.

anyways, go and check out episode 6, i can see progress coming.  although it's probably not as fast as you'd like.

although everyone should keep in mind that they're taking the direction from the manhwa.  mt's character in ep 6 is definitely more likeable than mt of ep 1.

by the way, the way drama drops hints o bt's talents is subtle but funny

'Heirs' reaches a peak while 'Pretty Man' stoops to a new low in viewer ratings

http://www.allkpop.com/article/2013/12/heirs-reaches-a-peak-while-pretty-man-stoops-to-a-new-low-in-viewer-ratings#axzz2moI0Y9Yr

sigh. i watch both shows, but i find this show a lot more entertaining than The Heirs tbh.

aww thanks~  :ahmagah:

I saw the rating for PM too but I figured that with Heirs reaching the last 2 epsiodes, it was bound to draw people in.  I mean it looks like they share the same demographics for viewers so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed.  You know the funny thing?  Ep 5 actually reached 6% then Ep 6 went back down.  Sigh

Too bad really.

I really find PM/BM/BA more entertaining too.  I guess there is no accounting for taste or should I say that there is no power like teenage girls.  I saw this floating around in another forum and I was amazed the length these fan girls will go to

WOuF2k6.jpg

I guess these types of teen girls are really the best types of fans for the company.  They're after the eye candy.   :raep:  :hehe:

They should spend that time studying instead of doing things like this.

Just wanted to share this translation that someone did and shared.

From KBS 2TV ‘Beautiful Man’, Choi David (Lee Jang Woo) and Kim Bo Tong (IU)

Why KBS Wednesdays/ Thursdays drama ‘Beautiful Man’ still can’t get a high viewer rating? There is few banal and dead-end elements. I can say it’s unusually a good drama in recent days. Apart from the viewer rating, I can see there are a lot of fans supporting this drama online. What is the reason?

Lessons that I don’t hate listening to
If we have already finished all of the official education, it means we have already learned something in one third of our life, and then we’ll learn more in the rest. There is nothing as good as learning, but ironically those who try to give a lesson to others are likely to be hated, and it seems not accepted favorably to convey straightforward messages in movies and dramas, too.

However, this drama ‘Beautiful Man’ keenly tries to teach something. The open way to tell us what money is, what brings disaster on ourselves, and what the difference between giving bribes and gifts stimulate us. To tell the truth, I had a silly idea that as the original is manga (comic), it must be just a cute romantic drama. However, it’s not!

Maybe it’s one of the reason why ‘Beautiful Man’ hasn’t got a high rating because it dares to give lessons to viewers? How many viewers would watch dramas to get solemn lessons?

Needless to say, it doesn’t mean we can’t expect this in the first place. Because the story line that Dokgo Mate (Jang Keun Suk) is going to meet a lot of women and become enlightened by them was already released before the broadcasting. But if a drama is trying to show something meaningful even though we ordinarily don’t expect anything but enjoy watching, it’s natural that the fun goes down by half.

But surprisingly, I found myself listen to such lessons shown openly in the drama. Strangely enough, the messages through the drama are so straightforward that it might be natural to induce a feeling of rejection, but instead, it actually creates a positive mood as if we need to listen carefully for some reason.

Seems like the reason is ‘they don’t show the lesson as a big deal’. For example, they show us a bit different view that we usually have on money or people, not showing them as sacred and precious to all human beings and all over the country. Instead, they show us a small secret to move people’s heart in a unique way. Their simple lessons are intrigued enough to draw attention from viewers naturally.

11250871953_b3b9555c10_z.jpg

A feast of distinct characters, hopefully it gets a meaningful result in ratings

In ‘Beautiful Man’, Dokgo Mate is trying hard to move the sock factory President’s heart.

‘Beautiful Man’ is a very good drama in all aspects. It shows us a lesson directly, but it doesn’t sound intrusive at all. No devilish bad person. No extreme struggles that give us huge stress. It’s clear that things happen in the future are not easy to overcome, but still I believe this basic framework won’t twist on the way.

However, above all things, the most fascinating point that ‘Beautiful Man’ has is all characters are lively and breathing. Not only main characters such as Kim BoTong (IU) with cheerful youthfulness and innocence, Dokgo Mate’s distinct personality with a double glittering charm, Choi David (Lee Jang Woo) who looks sophistic at the first glance but has some philosophy of life, Iron Lady Na Hong Ran (Kim Bo Yun), Mysterious Woman Hong Yoo Ra (Han Chae Young), but also other women involved with Dokgo Mate (?) all have distinct and unique characteristics.

In that sense, I was a bit surprised and sad to know around 5 %, low ratings of ‘Beautiful Man’. At the same time, however, it is fully predictable. This drama doesn’t have any intricate secrets of birth in particular nor deep and mellow sadness that breaks our heart. In addition, a secret weapon, love triangle with Dokgo Mate, Kim BoTong and Choi David looks cute and awkward rather than painful. Because of these conditions, getting a high rating is almost like a miracle.

Instead, the characters in this drama are committed to achieving their goal, and struggling to learn any lessons that are useful in life. They are recklessly dedicated to their beloved one and never expect something in return.

Even so, if it’s uninteresting, what is the point? ‘Beautiful Man’ doesn’t have explosive fun, breathtaking suspense and trill, nor unpredictable magic like a black hole that we unknowingly fall into. But even if not maximum, it’s always guaranteed to retain an adequate level of making it interesting and touching. The day will come when it is rewarded with the good rating? I hope it will happen for some reason. Because it’s obvious that ‘Beautiful Man’ is unusually a ‘good’ drama in recent days.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i esp agree with delivering life's lesson.  they do it in a lighthearted manner but they do deliver it.  i liked the last episode where mt explains casually that something given before is like a bribe and afterwards is a gift.  thoughtful and stated oh so casually but the truth!

Um I thought only watching through TV will contribute to the ratings? or online streaming counts as well?? & the scenes are subbed so its not from Korea, it seems like Chinese characters :._.: it seems scary regardless but I do watch the chinese subbed ver & there are hell lots of comments & views so its not surprising

i'm not sure.  i'll have to check into that but those girls are scary in a way.  i bet they make an awesome saesang fans or something   :troll:

anyways, i hope for the sake of the cast and production team that once heirs end that it'll pick up in rating.  i don't personally care about ratings since people have different tastes but all those hard working people making the drama deserve to have it be appreciated since it is actually a good drama with life's lessons embedded in it too.

i'm actually starting to like jgs now which is a miracle since i only started to watch it because of iu.  he's actually not as bad as i thought he would be.  yes he's a little arrogant but he also seems to be kind and his confidence has some basis for it.     although he could be a little more tactful about it when he's in the public eyes
