what do you think is holding kpop back, if anything?

Domestic:

The over-saturation of the industry. Many people don't even know 90% of the new nugu groups that were made this year, and this includes international fans as well. The public doesn't really like idols, they think they represent South Korea badly.

International:

Songs are sung in Korean.

Many groups have a lot of members.

Ignorance and racism of the rest of the world.

No creative control (acts like robots).

No diversity.

it's popular in asia and on the internet. I think it's fine as it is.

what's holding it back is the fact that it's not sung in english. People are close minded like that

and it's even worse in countries like mine where english isn't widely spoken and people still listen to american songs without understanding shit but people still find me weird for listening to songs sung in korean. For real.
