Anyone watched A Chinese Odyssey? A two-part 1995 Hong Kong fantasy-comedy film directed by Jeffrey Lau and starring Stephen ChowThe first part is titled A Chinese Odyssey Part One: Pandora's Box while the second one is called A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella. The film is very loosely based on the Wu Cheng'en's novel Journey to the West.

Those 2 part is both commercial & critical success. Thank to Stephen Chow's great performance.

This summer 2016, a new sequel will appear with different cast. Jeffrey Lau serves as director again but there is no Stephen Chow any more. Only Karen Mok is the original cast who will represent her role. Han Geng is the new stephen chow Monkey King, Wu Jing is the Monk,..., Other cast are Tang Yan, He Jong,...,

I like han geng but no. The bigger question is, can anyone be the new Stephen chow? No.

Btw, those 2 movies are my favorites!!! Love Stephen, love the story line, jokes, everything. I can never just watch one part; i always have to watch both back to me so they feel more like 1 movie. The last scene before he rode off to the west is easily my favorite and the reason for me always feeling nostalgia afterwards. Stephen hit all the right emotions on his face for this scene and I love it.

I dont know about the remake... but I don't think the same magic can be replicated. I hope it can stand alone as a enjoyable movie by itself.

Sometimes doing sequel to the masterpiece isn't a good idea.

First 2-part is widely successful and it leaves everyone good memories.

But since this third-part was made by the same director, let have some hope that at least it won't ruin the first 2-part reputation.

Anyway, Han Geng's acting is still doubtful.
