'Oh Hae-young Again' debuts at No. 1 on CPI chart; I.O.I SNL Korea ranks at 8th

SEOUL, May 16 (Yonhap) -- A cable series about two women who share a name but are worlds apart in looks opened at the top of a new chart measuring TV shows' popularity, data showed Monday.

"Oh Hae-young Again" scored 272.6 points on the Content Power Index (CPI). The index was developed by the entertainment company CJ E&M and the media ratings company Nielsen Korea to "better evaluate" popularity rather than simple viewership.

The two companies tracked the number of views on related news stories, keyword searches and mentions on social media of dozens of TV shows for the week of May 2-8.

The tvN series was followed by Sunday prime-time entertainment shows "King of Mask Singer" and "Infinite Challenge," both on the terrestrial network MBC, which collected 267.4 points and 254.7 points, respectively.

Singer-turned-actor Eric Mun stars as the lovelorn Park Do-gyeong in the Monday-Tuesday night series that premiered May 2.

Park, who has the supernatural ability to predict the near future, is stood up by the "pretty" Oh Hae-young (Jeon Hye-bin) on their wedding day and struggles to trust women until he meets the "average" Oh Hae-young (Seo Hyun-jin).

In another noteworthy change, the comedy show "SNL Korea 7" moved up five notches to rank eighth in the index, an achievement mostly driven by the appearance of the brand-new girl group I.O.I.
