sometimes you'll give your trust to something unworthy of it and sometimes you'll miss out on something because you didn't trust it

I don't think it's necessarily suspicious. If their reasons seem valid I'd give them the benefit of the doubt, but still with a grain of salt until they've actually proven their words.

 

I think using the word "distrust" is more suspicious though..
