Ep3 is lots of fun, and no most people know it's scripted we just discuss how much is scripted.  I'm willing to bet Jota offered Judo, and then staff sat down and decided what kind of things needed to happen and gave him a list probably with the order of activities in so they could plan camera directions and make sure they got enough filming done to fill their time slot.  I think they possibly suggested to Jota about the ring too, but when he gave it, and how and why, was probably left up to him, he just knew that he had to give it to her.  

For the next episode, staff have probably decided they should be an active energetic couple to differentiate the love-hate of Caolu and Seho, and the cute normal couple vibes of Eric and Solar, they probably asked them for a list of sports they like and things they want to do and then the staff organise those things into dates, wouldn't rule out the participants being able to 'ask' for certain things though as long as the staff can work it in.  This doesn't mean that both people are necessarily excited about everything they have to do, but because of the contract they do have to participate, like Jinkyung with Judo.  I don't think she was over the moon about it, (clearly she hadn't thought about all the abs and contact) but the contract means she had to at least try it. Couple that with her natural curiousity, and previously stated desire to be a 'wife' who supports her 'husband' it's not like they had to put a gun to her head.

I don't believe this makes the show too fake, but it also allows me to keep a cool head about certain couples knowing that certain things are preorganised, and that no matter what they're obliged to play along.  so no off days for you even if you don't feel like being romantic you have to smile.

Yes and no from my point of view.  It's certain they know they're supposed to be 'in love' and behave appropriately, but one of the selling points of the show is showing us how our 'stars' are when they are in love.  So I firmly believe that WGM is not 'scripted' in that sense, how silly is it to think that they spend their time learning lines to repeat.  The situations, activities and reality that they are a couple and must behave like it are all created by the show but the words and reactions are mostly from the people themselves and are dictated by how much those people allow themselves to slip into their 'character' or how open they are naturally about their feelings.  

Think of it like arranged marriages or meeting people your family have chosen with a view on marrying them.  You are both free and obliged to towards the other person.

Jota's shyness is unfeigned, his pride in his strength and skills is real too, his seriousness and loyalty lead him to behave towards his 'wife' in a sincere way that leaves little room for real 'acting'.  Jinkyung is curious, kind, active, joyful, and open towards others, naturally honest she reacts to him with the same desire to do a good job and genuine care for the people around them, that makes them such a joy to watch.

 

Jota is 23/24 and in a big city where owning a car is VERY expensive and public transport is so widespread and cheap, I can understand that getting a license isn't high on his list of things to do.  After all even if he gets one, he'll have next to no chance to practice driving which means he'll be bad at it.  JinKyung has been active for a while and getting paid, probably still living with her parents with less managerial control so I'm not surprised she can drive and pretty well, on country roads with little traffic and so forth. Jota debuted in 2014, and the guys average 2 years of training so he came to Seoul at the age of 18 or before after spending all his time training for Judo.  Then he spent his time living like a trainee with no need and no way to get a car so why get a license? 

 

Personally I was reluctant to try for my driving license for many years, but I finally found a reason to get over that and pass the tests.  So I don't find it that odd?

yeah it's not offensive or anything, but I feel we shouldn't mix reality with the show.  What ever happens in real life is apart from what happens in the show which is like a bubble.

I can't even imagine the others with JK, H.O and HeoJun will need to be tied down or they'll be trying to ruin Jota's image, DaeWon might not even be able to make eye contact, LeeGeon will be trying to keep up appearances with her (fighting a losing battle with his lot of lunatics to try and control, imagine him sipping tea with her and making small talk while Jota is trying to kill half the team behind them) Buffy will be flirting like crazy and Moos will be depressed in a corner thinking to himself where he went wrong in life that he doesn't have a girlfriend as pretty as her.  Cackles.

 

I hope JK brings a couple of model friends for a group date/picnic/sports thing that would be great.

Well a lot of couple in wgm has this experience by invited their family, friends & also their team-mates.. im sure JJ couple will be facing that situation too

Jota is actually cheesy naturally lol. The way he communicate with fans has too much cheesiness (he call fans 네꺼들) and he also replies them (those he knows personally) with aegyo. As a fan of MADTOWN, i can see that he's just being himself. Jota is really affectionate. He grow up with too much love given by his family. He's also not hesitant to show his concern/love to others (he hugs his members A LOT)

 

For the license, i'm pretty sure Jota knows how to drive just that he doesn't have a license. I think only few from MADTOWN members actually owns it. As i can remember, i think a fan ask them about it in one of their fansigns before

It's been 300+ episodes since WGM started and I've seen a lot of couples and there will always be the tailing issue of "scripted" I can say it is but not to the extent that they're memorizing lines. Scripted in a way that the producers are actually giving them guidelines on what to do maybe on that certain episode, guidelines on how they'll do it but those lines they're throwing they're from them. It's them. It's like being in a controlled environment but the person and her/his wisdom is still on his/her own. It's scripted in a way that what we can see are only those which can make our hearts flutter in which it's really impossible to have that kind of perfect relationship outside the show. They show us things that'll make us happy and will make us feel like we're in love. That way of script. But for the couples involve, I know that there are certain feelings growing by each meet up but they're just trying to hold it because a show is a show. Whatever will happen outside, it's different from the show.

Jota's international age is 22. In Korea he's 23. (Freakin' reality we're of the same age ughghghghghghgh. Huhuhuhuhahahaha)

 

It's quite normal for idols to have no license at that age. I remember during YongSeo days. Yonghwa was also 22 that time and he had no license but was able to get at the end.

 

Maybe Jota will have sooner. Hopefully.
