how are you guys feeling about the new season?

i love that there's more idol loving in my life now, but im kind of annoyed at the repetition. maybe i expected too much from love live sunshine!. 

 

i just feel like theres too many aspects of the first season incorporated into the second. we have the same character tropes and a scarily similar story line. every 30 seconds, i think, "wow, i saw that in the first season". or, "gee, that was too similar to the first season". its kind of disappointing. 

 

if you havent seen them yourself yet im happy to point them out :/ its just a bit sad. i hope the series continues on its own path.

This is the kinda show you watch for the characters and I feel like the characters are different enough that I can excuse the incredibly similar story. Only Chika and Honoka seem similar to me, but they're just the typical happy and energetic main character which is common in many animes.

 

IMO, I think a lot of the characters have similar traits to other characters. Example, Mari's boob thing is something Nozomi does. Or how Yohane was sneaking around in disguise like Nico. But other than things like that I think it's very refreshing and it's kind of like the same old characters we love but with a new cool twist.

 I agree with Curlymckay. In all honesty, it seems quite lazy. the character traits have been spread out amongst the new characters from the previous characters, creating members with less depth. its just a little disappointing, you know? i can spot so many similar traits, its driving me nuts X(

To those who are watching, Sunshine in the US, are you using daisuki or funimation? Disappointed that CR wasn't able to get north america license, but I'm not sure I want to pay for another subscription ;_; So far I've used a VPN to watch through CR uk... I feel guilty because it doesn't help with US support fandom. Should I just cough off to funimation?

Muse and Aqours are 18 girls. Creating 18 characters and none of them being a little bit similar would be very hard. To me there's more differences than similarities, but everyone only focus on the similarities.

It's hard not too! When you love the characters so much you see them in others. I began to notice all the similarities and the few differences don't mean much anymore.

The aquors girls are already very important to me, though :P

I agree that the two series seem very similar. It doesn't really help that the story is pushing towards "We want to be school idolrus just like u's!" But I guess with u's influence a lot of groups are going to try to follow in their footsteps, Aqours included. I'm making a guess that the resemblance is done on purpose so that Aqours' initial plan backfires, and they have to learn to find their own group identity that sets them apart fr from the rest of the emerging idol groups.
