So what happens if Kris Wu's Hollywood endeavor becomes successful?

It's pretty much a given that he's a huge Chinese star at this point. After Mr. Six, all he needs is just one more blockbuster and he's pretty much a secured A-lister before he even turns 30.

But it is his hollywood pursuit that intrigues me. It seems he is quite picky even with the gigs he goes for in the West (as his priority is China) and he declines on opportunities that would not benefit him. From what we know, his roles in the Vin Diesel and Luc Besson movies are not stereotypical characters given to Asian men.

This makes me curious. What if Kris Wu eventually becomes the person who will be able to break Asian men stereotypes in Hollywood? What if he becomes the first Asian male star who will be bankable as a desirable male lead in movies with roles not usually given to Asian men?

If he attains such level of 'superstardom' and he indeed becomes bankable in Hollywood, do you think his haters or skeptics (mostly K-Pop fans or Knetz) will view him in a better light?

you have a lot of big expectations for him in hollywood, expectations asian actors and actresses haven't been able to meet despite working for years to achieve it..

what would make him any different???  hollywood sucks.  they aren't just going to hand him "bankability" on a platter.

That's a lot of threads with pretty much the same questions, OP, lol.

We'll see what happens in the future.

This is true but then again I feel like the current state of the internet and China's influence in Hollywood would make things a bit different but that's something we're yet to see.

I thought he was a nerdy hacker nicknamed "Harvard" in the diesel movie.

Nope. The nerdy tech in the film is Becky (Nina Dobrev). He's a DJ.

If I was so sure I would be using will instead of what if

I'm rooting for him but tbh, no one knows 100% if he'll be successful

i do hope he does break barriers because fuck hollywood's whiteness but idk.  95% of the time, non-white actors will be in one really successful film and then get offered peanuts afterwards (see: basically every non-white actor who has won an oscar, their chances of getting high profile work decreases immensely).  it won't just be enough for this movie to do well, there's a lot of other factors to account for too.

well if he does, that's great.  hollywood needs to change.  i'm not sure if it would change how knetz see him though.

I'm here to support him for however far he wants to go in both the c-ent and Hollywood.

As for success, only time will tell.
