Will Visual Kei pick up again?

Some of the old bands have a lot of fans that still support them but I don't think there's a chance for the new bands to get popular because it's not a thing anymore. Sad but true.

Visual Kei has always been a niche and was popular with international fans but not so with Japan. THere are very successful visual kei bands (well some of those visual kei bands no longer are visual kei).

I always wondered why this was...

As a disclaimer, I'm not familiar with Visual Kei

That said, I believe answers to "Will this ever picks up popularity?" will always be.

"Depends on the act, the promotion as well as the music + personalities involved."

The bigger the demography that clicks with them, the bigger they get.

As a disclaimer, I'm not familiar with Visual Kei

I always wondered why this was...

I think it has to do with their extravagant appearance that many of these groups portray.

And the fact female fans like these groups mostly due to "male wearing make up and looking prettier than a lot women." <<< I have heard of these comments.

The genre crumbled on itself. Fans already moved on to Kpop or other things, a few stayed loyal to VK/their favourite band and lots of them are still lost in the limbo.

If it'll ever pick up again, surely not in the next few years and not as we know it today.
