Did TWICE already surpass 2NE1's historical rookie year?

Arguably, 2NE1 has the biggest rookie year in KPOP history. They debuted with a smash single 'Fire' that made them a household name. And then they follow up that one with a monstrous hit single 'I don't Care' that cemented their status as one of the top girl groups in S.Korea.

On the other hand, Twice debuted with a sleeper hit single "Like Ooh Ahh" and made them a trending group. Then they followed it up with a smash hit single "Cheer Up" and broke records left and right with skyrocketing popularity. They also have an impressive album sales.

Like TWICE's shashasha, 2NE1's I dont care eh eh eh choreo was also famous back then.

So which rookie year do you think is bigger among the two?

i don't know and i dont care. im a fan of both groups, so i do feel happy seeing twice being compared to 2ne1. i think we have to wait a bit longer to accurately access this comparison -- the impact can be assessed well in retrospect.

not yet, 2NE1 debut album was the best selling album by female artist that year, outsold both SNSD releases (Gee and Genie). Miss A also had very good debut year their song become #1 digital song in Gaon Year end chart that year. Twice achievement already really good esp for group that debuted now where the market already saturated with many other groups. i also have a feeling that Cheer Up might become bigger than what we all expected (seeing dat longevity on charts) just like Gfriend did earlier this year with Rough

I don't think they outsold gee and genie physical+digitally ( gee is most selling girlgroup song in kpop history over 6m download) , but they did beat snsd genie on music show
