VIXX's "VOODOO DOLL" choreography too controversial, banned from broadcast stations

Group VIXX’s choreography for their new song “Voodoo Doll†did not pass the 3 broadcasting stations’ regulations.

On the 22nd representatives of VIXX’s agency said that VIXX will have their first comeback on national television on KBS2 Music Bank. However the choreography did not pass regulations and was inevitably edited.

Officials of the company said, “The part that became the problem is where the VIXX members turned into voodoo dolls. The choreogrpahy is symbolic of expressing the sad fate of the doll being pierced in the heart,†and, “We were shocked at receiving this verdict. It’s a situation where we have to go on with the broadcast, but we are also pressured about how to change the key point of the choreography.â€

 

VIXX’s title song “Voodoo Doll†is a song about becoming a voodoo doll to fulfill a misplaced love and expresses the sad fate of self-sacrifice for that love.

Part of me feels like if a group is known to be a little "out there" just let people make thier own choice in weither or not to watch it. On the other hand, most kpop idols have a demographic of preteen or teens so I get why they try and be careful with what they put on tv.

I agree with you. Since most of the fans are really young, the shows are censoring what they broadcast. Tbh, the song is good but the vid is quite gory.

This makes me really sad. It is one of my favourite parts of the choreo, it isn't bad without blood (in the mv it is my favourite part), it completes the story behind it. I don't know what to think, I'm really disappointed and this feels so wrong. It isn't happy song, they are not going to replace that stick with half naked ladies. I'm really glad that Show Champion let them perform it and even added that cool stabbing video before it.

 

Somehow I feel that we just must fight for them even harder.
