How much do Japanese people cheat? [video]

This is interesting.

I watched a Japanese series yesterday called Mother (I 100% recommend it. It's AMAZING) and the main character who had not been in contact with her mother for like 10 years comes back with a 7 year old girl (I won't spoil the story line). A line which the mother said literally shocked me. Someone suggested that maybe the daughter had had an affair with a married man and the mother said something along the lines of "an affair is not a problem". I was like  "Whaaaaat. Is this a common belief in Japan??".

There's a lot of cognitive dissonance among these people's opinions, I think they probably haven't ever thought about it before and are just blurting out whatever comes to mind first. For one, women aren't generally judged more harshly than men for cheating (except maybe if the couple has children). Most people just assume they're judged more harshly because nobody ever actually talks about this kind of stuff except the assholes who judge them more harshly. In reality the majority are in silent agreement that that kind of attitude is wrong  :derp:

and they will cheat but wont forgive if boyfriend/girlfriend cheated on them  :imstupid:  :imstupid:

 

I really though Japan was conservative culture and values relationship, but for cheating to be a normal thing  :omg:

They should ask more people with different ages, I don't believe that the major opinion their
