lately i've been feeling like I can't achieve any of the goals I set out for myself.

everyday I tell myself I will start working out and eating healthy but i miserably fail. i tell myself that i'm going to commit to my work and studies but i fail. all of a sudden its 11pm and I haven't done anything productive with my day.

I stopped believing in myself, my motivation levels are very low and I'm always tired now. I don't even trust myself to accomplish anything. Every time I commit to something a voice in my head goes who are you kidding?

it's week 10 of the semester and i have 4 more weeks to go.

On Monday I have a 1000 word essay that I haven't even started yet. i don't know where i'm going with this but i feel like i'm at a very low point in my life atm and I don't know how to get out. it's starting to take a toll on me emotionally physically and spiritually.

i think everyone feels the same way at one point or another in their life. especially with students, 90% of them feel the same way you do

eventually you will feel so fed up with your own shit, that you just want to get up and do it so hopefully that happens to you. i noticed for me i wont do things if i plan it but i just do things that are productive if its spontaneous and deadlines are what get me motivated the most

if you set deadlines that can also be a motivator

I feel the same way.. idk if i'm a broken adult... I don't think so. I don't want to be one.. but i feel like it. I'm graduating in 7 days, and I don't even have the motivation to look for a job or intern. I don't know if it's because i chose a field that wasn't my dream or if i'm just not ready for adulthood. I just want to stay with my parents until they grow old ;-; My mama has too much stress on her hands. I don't know how they will handle if I get a job. I really wish I went towards being a teacher..

it's just that you are scarred tbh,

go against your mind,if he says don't ,do it,

start little by little

to have a motivation is not important, you only need to look at what you are now,and see your future self if you stay the same....

accomplish things by starting by littel things,

Ignore those people. OH has some really mean-spirited nasty trolls.

It will get better. Everyone faces these challenges, it's just part of the human experience. Maybe to achieve your daily goals, you can schedule or plan your day out and follow through on it. Just know you must be reasonable with your schedule. Tell yourself whenever your get distracted or slack off that  you can control yourself and do what you need to do. If you need some control for you, you should download these self control apps on your laptop that block distracting websites for a certain amount of time. Habits take 2 weeks to form, but once you get over that 2 weeks, it will come really naturally to you and you will be glad you achieved whatever you want to do.

Try to eliminate what causes you to feel bad, and create incentives for doing what you need to do. For example, after you work out you could watch an episode of netflix or just listen to music (or eat stuff but lol)

Honestly some ppl in this thread if you dont have anythig constructive to say gtfo.

Op, one way that works is trying to do small everyday task, like doing chores and then from them mskr higher goals that you can finish, sooner or later you'll get use to setting goals and achieving them. Try within a deadline too.

This is something that a lot of people struggle with so you're not alone. Hope you find strength and overcome this.

The longer you put off the essay, the worst your will feel. Just start it right now, just write as much as you can and once you have that you can start to organize it into something presentable.

You sound a like you're depressed, and you should probably seek help. Counseling can help a lot, but in the meantime if you force yourself to get up and move it'll help a bit. The habits depression induce only feed it, so you have to resist them.

You seem to have a lot of goals for yourself so the thing I can tell you now is start off slowly and take it piece by piece. Having too much set for yourself can really scramble your brain. You have an 1000 word essay due. How about you set a small goal for yourself to get at least 5 sentences within 30-40 min? And once you've reached that, reward yourself with a small break and keep pushing yourself!

You've already acknowledged your struggles so that's a good place to start. You really can do all that you put your mind into. You can do this. I believe in you, so you should believe in yourself too.

I can't remember the guy's name right now, but there was one guy who has become a fairly well-known topic in certain circles who wanted to start a habit of flossing his teeth. He became well-known because instead of saying "every morning and night you're going to floss all of your teeth", he said "before you go to bed, you're going to floss one tooth". Of course he would usually end up flossing more than one, but it was saying that he was just going to do one which gave him the willpower to do it. You can apply this principle to any habit you want to start. It may be a little late for the 1000 word essay, but in the future, when you have something big to get done, allot a small amount of time every day to it. For example, I wanted to start exercising more, and I would always tell myself "you're gonna wake up early and go to the gym before class", and I would go once or twice then stop. What worked, though, was telling myself "every day, when you get tired of working, you're going to dance to a single k-pop song". It wasn't always actually dancing since I'm not coordinated enough to do that, but I would stop and for four minutes jump and do push-ups and sometimes look like I was drowning in air because I was trying to do the moves.

For the writing thing, give yourself 60, 30, even fifteen minutes where you sit down at your desk and just WORK. There are some chrome extensions that help block distracting websites if you want, I personally use Strict Workflow because it also uses the Pomodoro time system which gives you 25 minutes of work time where any websites you set are blocked then a five minute break where they aren't, which I now use to have one of the aforementioned dance breaks. There' are also websites that are meant to either reward or punish you every time you hit a word goal. My personal favorites are Written? Kitten! and Write or Die. Write or Die is punishment-based and is better if you just need to stream-of-consciousness barf your entire mind out, while Written? Kitten! is reward-based and probably less effective overall but better if you need to do research while you write.

The last thing I'll say is this: use what is called your "20 seconds of courage". It's a fairly arbitrary number but if you take just 20 seconds to get yourself closer to your goal, it can make a huge difference. For me, I'm much more productive if I'm not in my bedroom. So I use my 20 seconds of courage to put on shoes, grab my bookbag, and walk out of my room. Then I go to a coffee shop or my corner of the library or something where I can really focus, but it's when I get up and put on shoes that actually has the biggest effect since once I do that I might as well go.

I feel ya.

I'm in uni and I'm so far behind with everything. Only one month left to fix it but if you only knew how much work that is... Chances of dropping out are really really big...

And I personally dont even care, I'll just find something new. It's just that my parents will be soo disappointed in me *sigh*

I think your problem is that you wait for the right mindset, for inspiration, for when you start wanting to do what you set out to do. It happens to a lot of us, and for introverts, it's almost a rule. It is, however, a rule that's meant to be broken. Don't wait for inspiration. Now it's writing time, now you write. Now it's working-out time, now you work out. The strength to do it will come afterwards.

spot on. once I learned this simple fact, finishing shit on time became so much easier. it's not about whether you believe you can or can't do it. you just do it even if you feel you can't.

another thing that helps is having a change in surroundings. for me, I have a tendency to feel sluggish and unmotivated at home where everything is obviously super comfortable and familiar, so forcing myself to hit up a nearby cafe helps me to refocus on my work -- it's pretty much become my "productivity space" because my brain has been "trained" to get ready to work as soon as I'm there, if that makes any sense.

As a student, I do go through such phase as well. My suggestion is to try find motivation and force yourself to start doing, even if its just a small progress but better than none, right? Good luck!

In my experience, a better way to approach your goals is to determine the one goal you are focused on and move forward with that one goal only. Eliminate other goals that are secondary. This is not to say that you should never have more than one goal. Rather, you need to realize that you have only so much time and energy. Therefore, choose the goal that will give you the highest return on effort and focus on that one goal first. Once complete, you can then focus on other goals in sequence.
