Do you ever feel like your posts here get misunderstood...

because you're unable to convey tone, inflections, or facial expressions through your posts? i feel like that's the biggest drawback to online communication/texting. like, yeah, there are emoji's, but sometimes i feel like people don't understand the message i'm trying to get across because they don't know how i'm saying it in my head.

Yeah.  I try to minimize misunderstandings by being careful with my choice of words, even to the extent of editing a post multiple times if I think I haven't conveyed what I wanted to say with sufficient clarity the first time around.

But I see it often in posts made by others.  For instance, a user may post something that I thought was light-hearted or humourous, but that same post would incur the wrath of other users who read the same post differently.

Sarcasm (even when coupled with the eyeroll emoticon  ) is particularly prone to being misunderstood.  The doge :imstupid: helps greatly.

I haven't been around long enough to have a reputation and I haven't posted enough to be able to be misunderstood, but in general, yes, I believe I am misunderstood all the time.  I try to help with formatting, revising my wording, and emoticons, but I'm not a gif wizard.  Even if I did all the things I'd still get misunderstood sometimes.  The same thing holds for literally any method of communication.

I've seen a lot of users telling me "I don't know if you're serious or not" when I am serious. It's not my thing to be sarcastic. Pretty much everything I post on here is serious but some people think I'm joking.

Says is pretty much always serious + title is "99% Evil" + signature is a gif of Kyubei on Homura's shoulder = Pretty sure this is legit

All the time...

English isn't my first language so I often end up using the wrong words. Because of that I might come accross as rude/offensive while that really wasn't my intention. Or when I'm being sarcastic/joking they take me way too seriously. Again, because I use the wrong words.

I literally spend most of the time on here explaining myself. Really annoying. If only I could communicate in Dutch...
