Ok, so basically there are three affiliations in the game - Good, Evil and Neutral. The goal of each is to win by getting rid of the other two.

 

Evil affiliation can kill every night phase and they have a PM where they discuss who to kill and perform other actions on, etc. So the evils know who are the other members of their team.

 

The goods and neutral though don't know who are the other members on their teams. In most OH games there's 3-4 neutrals, 5-6 evils and the rest are good players.

 

The game is played in the gameplay thread and the provided PMs. During the day all players vote out (lynch) someone and the player with the most votes is eliminated.

 

All players will receive a role with an ability. The most common abilities would be affiliation seer, ability seer, protector, healer, serial killer, poisoner etc

 

The abilities are used during the night (most of the time) by sending the action you want to perform to the GM (that would be me for this game)

 

Like, if you're a protector (protectors is a good role) and want to protect someone, you would tell me who you want to protect in the PM etc

 

That would be the basics, hopefully it's not too confusing

 

I was inexperienced once as well, but you start to get it after you play a game. And players are usually helpful and willing to explain stuff if you're a newbie, so I suggest signing up ^^
