At K-pop Life, we follow them closely. Ladies & Gentleman, let us introduce you the new jewels on SIMTONG Entertainment's crown!

► Once upon a time…
In the land of the calm morning, a kingdom named SIMTONG wanted to create a new group that's the opposite of the usual girl group concept: a boyish/tomboy group showcasing hip hop and electro pop genres. That is how, on the 20th of March 2013, Global Icon (GI) was born. It consists of One Ket, Aram, EunJi, HaYeon & AI. Their actual debut is on the 3rd of April, 2013 with the MV “Beatles†and it's a pure musical marvel. Dance, music, mastered rap, the staging, the style, a perfect cocktail that has conquered the public. The fact that they are more “masculine†but not too ‘masculine’ is the thing that is much appreciated. Thus, many identify themselves with GI.

â–º About SIMTONG
Names like Kim Sori, Poppin' HyunJoon, Tritops or even Crispi Crunch don't seem unfamiliar? It is normal, all those artists are signed with JS Prime, a sister label to SIMTONG Entertainment.
With Global Icon, a tonic and shimmering group, different from the normal K-pop codes – short skirts, floating hair, beautiful face and sex appeal - SIMTONG has marked a great hit in the entertainment industry, and it is appreciated. 

► Who’s who?
As we said, GI is a concentration of talent, such as vocals and dance. From the maknae (*the youngest) to the leader (**note: they made a mistake here since there's no leader in the group), Global Icon overflows with colours, energy and tomboyish style, but not too much, and that is what that got us seduced.

â–º Interview

Q: Can you present/explain your concept to those who don't know you yet?
A: We are GI, a girl group with a masculine style – it's called the tomboyish concept!

Q: Why is the single called ‘Beatles’?
A: The lyrics are about the beat and the rhythm in the song. We repeat the word many times, that is why it was chosen as the title.

Q: You have a ‘tomboyish’ style that has attracted the interest of many people. Were you already like that or are you not? (**meaning were they originally ‘tomboys’ before debut)
OneKet: I am the only one who had a tomboyish style before our debut.

Q: Do you think the ‘tomboyish’ concept is like a ‘weapon’ for your debut ?
A: It's true that we are one of the first groups to do that (**to use the ‘tomboyish’ concept), so we stand out, but we also want to show girls another model than the sexy and cute concept. (*meaning they want to showcase a different kind of ‘girl’, which is different from the regular ‘sexy and cute’ concept girl groups usually have)

Q: OneKet, you lost a lot of weight before your debut, what is your secret ?
A: There's not any particular secret. I don't like sports and exercising, even though I dance. At first, I only drank milk everyday. I lost a lot of weight but I wasn't phisically healthy so I tried to eat all I wanted to in the morning and after that I didn't eat after 4-5 p.m. I only rewarded myself on weekends.

Q: One Ket, on the internet, people are only talking about your diet. Can you tell us something about you ?
A: Yes, I love to dance!

Q: EunJi, you have short hair, but when you made your debut (*in the debut photo), your hair was long, and you were the only one who had long hair. Why did you cut it?
A: I didn't want to cut it. I was sad when they did it (**her management company). But in a group, we have to think about the team and it was the best for the group since the concept is tomboy. So I did it.

Q: Aram, how does it feel like to be the maknae (*the youngest in the group)?
A: Actually, I don't feel like a maknae. I am used to being independent and when I joined the group, I did the same things the others did without thinking about the fact that I am the maknae. So, no, I don't feel like the youngest at all.

Q: HaYeon, what is the hardest thing for you during the training?
A: For me, it was the vocal training. I knew how to sing, but in order to adhere to the groups's concept, I had to develop a masculine voice and I had to work harder.

Q: And for your style, who picks the clothes you have to wear? Do you like them (**the clothes)?
A: We have a stylist that designs the group's look. We trust her and people told us that it suits us, so we are reassured.

Q: AI, at first you wanted to become an actress. If you had to choose a role, what would you like to play?
A: I can see myself playing the role of a girl that disguises herself as a guy. Like Coffee Prince or Park Sin Hye in You're Beautiful.

Q: Who are your favourite groups/artistes?
A: BIGBANG, B.A.P, SHINee, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj & 2NE1.

Q: What are your future projects?
A: Well, we have to promote ‘Beatles’ so that people will know us and we also want to do some individual projects.

Thats one of the biggest things I debate with. Going to a concert to film or fangirl. I usually fangirl and record only about 2 songs, yet my video comes out shaky because I dance and scream like crazy
