“Running Man� PD Explains Why The Korea-China Reunion Won’t Be Shown In Korea

On April 18, it was revealed that the crew from the SBS variety show “Running Man†will be reuniting with cast members from the Chinese version of the show, “Hurry Up Brother†in Gyeonggi-do. It looks like, however, this episode is unlikely to be aired in Korea.

PD Lee Hwan Jin explained, “Although we are in discussions right now, the possibility is high that you will not be able to watch this episode in Korea. First off, the concepts between the Chinese and Korean versions are so different. The image of the two shows is completely different from each other. Another problem is that it is hard to find a broadcast time as well as figuring out the language barrier in the show. The Korean cast joined the episode to help out the Chinese cast members. It was a fun environment and a happy collaboration but because of the air time, it would be difficult to show it in Korea.â€

The Chinese cast members came to Korea with the episode concept of “Spending a vacation in Korea†and enjoyed their time in Gapyung together with the Korean cast members. PD Lim Hyung Taek led this reunion.

Meanwhile, on the May 1 episode of the show, the “Goo-Won†couple will be reunited, as Jin Goo and Kim Ji Won, of the wildly popular drama “Descendants of the Sun†star as guests on the show.

I think I saw the chinese cast of Running Man only once, I think there was Anglelababy if I remember well. Both shows have really different flow to be fair but they could have shown this one considering Song Joong Ki made an appearance. Its clear koreans would have watched it but they decided not to show it. The fact Luhan participated surely played a part.

1. Just use subtitles for the Chinese cast and vise versa. 

2. Time slot? dafuq you on about, you got a time slot each week and your telling their is no time slot for Running man lol

I think there is Luhan first, then PD might not be sure koreans would watch since its like a partnership with a chinese cast who are not well-known among the public (so they care about the ratings). Both shows formats are different, chinese version is more competitive compared to the korean ones which emphasizes on the cast chemistry way more so there might be a clash. But as I said, its on the scriptwriters responsibility to make it fun and entertaining for the viewers + there is Song Joong Ki who is like the hottest korean actor right now so obviously koreans would have tuned in. Running Man ratings have been sinking for a while now, I hope the episode with DOTS cast will be fun (I think its airing right now).

 

tl;dr Luhan being there is for me the biggest reason why the broadcast wont be shown.

They could have worked it out but Luhan being there, I knew from the start this broadcast would not happen in SK which is a shame. Judging from the spoilers, they seemed to have good chemistry (Lulu and Joong Ki) and it would have been interesting to hear Luhan speak korean again haha

Two different episodes. One with the Korean RM cast and another one with Song Joong Ki (without the Korean RM cast).

Oh well thats a shame, not looking forward to it that much now, I thought Joong Ki would interact with both Luhan and the korean cast. Maybe next time...thanks for clarifying.

I chase after Chinese Running Man since season 1. The concept is really different. And btw, to me, Luhan looks like a squid standing with the rest of Chinese Running Man leads....... except for Wong Cho Lam.
