According to IGN, Nintendo patents a new controller design, which looks like this:

My initial reaction was literally WTF...

But apparently, it "includes an accelerometer, gyrometer, temperature sensor and load sensor." I'm still not sure how I feel about the design. I really wasn't feeling the Wii U; this seems a bit too much to me, but at the same time, I'm somewhat excited about all the sensors which can really enhance the gaming experience.

What do you guys think?

I'm glad you said "imo", because as much as would have liked to agree, it definitely didn't lol.

EDIT: Splatoon is freaking amazing too omg.

I sometimes wonder WTF Nintendo are smoking.

Hopefully this is just some idea that will never come to light. But seriously I'm not against them trying new things. But sometimes these ideas are just lame gimmicks that hurt them more. They need to make a system and controller that is next-gen and can also be easily accessible.

Yes they have some solid 1st party games, but they can't survive on that. Because I'm just afraid at some point they'll end up like Sega. Because in the mid-90's Sega thought they could sell people on their gimmicky systems/add-ons, and well.....look at Sega now.
