So just an update for those who don't already know : Soomin will take part on another reality competition show MIXNINE which is conducted by YG. She is taking part as LOEN's new girlgroup FaveGirls.

Some details :

YG will collaborate with other agencies on their new audition program, which will take members from rookie groups.

MIXNINE will have 400 contestants. Members from rookie groups and trainees from various agencies, including YG, will compete to form two groups. One male and one female group with nine members. The two groups will then compete and one group will debut.

YG's new audition program will be similar in style (not format) to Produce 101.

Regarding YG's new Audition Show, the members who end up winning in the program will re-debut in their own, new group.

YG's 'Mix Nine' will take ~400 idols/trainees and 9 male, 9 females survive to final round

Then, it's boys vs girls

Winning team debuts

Basically, Top 9 males and Top 9 females make the finals

Then, they go against each other and the winning team will debut as Mix Nine.

Some photos of Soomin taking part. They were uploaded on MIX9's official IG :

Good news is that her audition is currently Top 20 on Naver. That bodes well for her chances on this show :

Soomin made it past the first round of eliminations for Mixnine and was ranked quite high :

# 15 out of 98 girls that made the first cut.

Soomin is seen being introduced at 1:53 of this video ( The Mixnine Showcase ). I love that she got one of the loudest cheers and is obviously a fan favorite.

I'm really impressed by the number of views that Soomin's audition is getting on both Naver TV and Vlive.

Vlive :  http://channels.vlive.tv/D7F4E7/video     105,568 views

Naver TV :  http://tv.naver.com/search/clip?query=mixnine&isTag=true     105,609 views

That's far and away the highest number of views out of all the candidates' audition clips, both boys and girls.

Hopefully she can maintain that momentum and join her bandmate Sujin in the Top 9 girls.

Congratulations to Soomin for getting the most votes amongst the girl trainees on Mixnine!

On October 29, JTBC’s new survival program “MIXNINE†aired its first episode.

The show previously revealed its ranking groups and first mission song. After the episode was broadcast, “MIXNINE†posted through Twitter the results of the preliminary voting.

The preliminary voting was open to the entire public. In first place among the boys was Live Works Company’s Lee Roo Bin, who was put in the “A†class. In first place among the girls was Fave’s Lee Soo Min, also in the “A†class. (The ranking groups were chosen by judge and live audience votes.)

As a reward, Soomin's full solo audition was released :

Soomin taking part in Mixnine's One Day Vocal Mission.

It was a cover of Mamamoo's 2014 single "Piano Man".

Video clip originally uploaded to NaverTV but I included a Youtube mirror for those who can't access Naver.

The vocal performances start at 1:20 and Soomin appears at 1:49 to 1:57 of the video.

Soomin's self-intro just before "Just Dance" showcase.

Uploaded to NaverTV but I included a Youtube and streamable mirror since many people are region-blocked.

Interesting that she was ranked #26 before the showcase but rose to #15 during the showcase.

Soomin appears briefly but in crucial moments of [JUST DANCE] Girls' version making-of video.

See 1:25 and at 2:32 of the video :  Soomin is the only girl whose live vocals of "Just Dance" is showcased and she is

the last girl shown before the live performance of JD(Girls' version) plays.

Hopefully it means Soomin's beautiful vocal tone and her singing technique made a deep impression on the judges

and PD and they will showcase her vocals during tomorrow's episode 3 telecast of Mixnine.

I wonder what this means.

It may hint at a one vs one solo performance face-off between Soomin and JYP's Ryujin which was too close to call.

It may be dangerous for Soomin in two ways :

1) Soomin won and now she'll catch unwarranted hate from Ryujin's massive fanbase for making Ryujin look bad.

2) Soomin lost and now she'll forever be known as the trainee who lost to Ryujin since Ryujin seems to have captured

the public's attention.

I was hoping for Soomin to lie low and fly under the radar until the last few episodes when she suddenly emerges

as a dark horse and charges into the final 9.

Being thrust into the public limelight so early may not be so good for her chances.

Congratulations to Soomin for garnering #2 in public voting!  ahmagahplz.png

What's even more impressive is looking at the top 9 :

Soomin is not from a Big 3 entertainment company (Ryujin),

She hardly got any screentime or sob story or underdog story arc (Kim Sori, Choi Moonhee,Lee Hyangsook, Loona girls),

She's not from an already debuted somewhat popular group with a pre-existing fanbase ( Dreamcatcher and Loona girls,Choi Moonhee from Bonusbaby).

Some argue she has popularity from PD101 but then why is she the only ex-PD101 girl in the Top 9?

Us Soomin fans already know her capabilities and charms ---- let's hope JTBC gives Soomin more screentime to

display her vocals, charisma and dance skills to the rest of the un-initiated voting public.
