Soomin's face when Boyfriend was giving her attitude made my day. hurrplz.png

Also, I knew I stanned the right trainee when JYP revealed that both Soomin and Sohee were exceptionally nice people behind the scenes.

I think SBS may form a group from these 6 trainees just to have something to compete against rival network Mnet's IOI.

If the group is successful and SBS may well invest a lot of time and resources to guarantee their success, then that would make a great advertorial and launching off point for a Produce 101-like show on SBS in the future.

Basically, I can see good things happening for Soomin especially if she wins or places very high in this competition. She almost certainly will get a contract and a quickish debut from Kpopstar 6. I just pray that it is with JYP or YG.

The 6 girls in 'K-Pop Star 6' to be regrouped into 2 groups of 3

The 6 current girls in 'K-Pop Star 6' will be split into two groups of three.

The girls had been working as pairs, but starting for the live broadcasts, they'll be broken into groups of 3 that they'll be working together with until the last stage.

The three will be determined by the judges, and be revealed on the upcoming episode

Soomin, Minju and Ko Ara are free agents. Ko Ara apparently left Astory end of last year. Perhaps with all the publicity she was getting, she realized that she could get much more favorable terms with a bigger agency.

Sohee's agency has a terrible rep for handling idols and it looks like Hunus has no intention of debuting a GG anytime soon. With JYP salivating all over Sohee and with the new law changes making it much cheaper to break contracts, there is a high chance Sohee will jump ship.

Basically 4/6 of the trainees are ripe for JYP/YG to swoop up.

Well, so looking forward to the Soomin/Ara/Minju combo for the final run up to the finale.... here's to them winning...

Which would be so fitting for this season's slogan.... 'Last Chance'

Can I be honest?

I was a little disappointed that Minju joined.

Soomin and Ara have a tried and proven killer combination of power vocals and energy -- see Bang Bang. While Soomin didn't mesh well with Minju the last time they were in the same group.

I just pray that Minju doesn't upset the synergy and teamwork that Soomin and Ara have already going for them.

Soomin-Krisha, Soomin-Sohee and Krisha-Ara have been good combos. I would have been happier with either Krisha or Sohee.

Soomin's and Minju's fanbase came through for them after their miscalculation : they didn't take into account how loud the live band would be and their vocals were drowned out.

Also they should have got Soomin to sing the English lyrics because Minju's English pronunciation was distractingly bad.

I hope they give Soomin and Ara more singing lines next round.

Hate to be mean but Minju is the weakest singer yet she had the most lines last week and she butchered her prolonged solo because of her poor English.

Couple that to Soomin's and Ara's microphones not working properly and it was a minor miracle that Minari was able to survive.

This Sunday, I hope Minari sets aside any thoughts of pride and hurt feelings and just deploy each member according to her strengths : Ara for the high notes, Soomin as the bridge and opening verses and to support Ara in her high notes. Minju should concentrate on rapping and dance and let Soo-ara carry the song.

I really like what this poster said about Soomin; she describes to a T what I've been feeling about Soomin ever since I saw her on Kpopstar and even on PD101 :

It's weird.  I usually try to play a little mental game with myself and pick the results at the beginning of the show and see how close I get.  I'm often quite close and sometimes I get surprised.  But this one turned out to be so predictable.  At the very beginning, I almost knew with a certainty that Shannon and Minari weren't going to make it.

First hint was wardrobe-related:  Shannon in basic white and Minari in basic black.  Boyfriend and Kwins much more colorful and attention-getting/stage-presence-y.

Second hint was order of appearance.  In big shows, people have come to expect that the best comes last, while openers and warm-up acts come earlier.

Then, as the show progressed, everything kept reinforcing my initial intuition.  Shannon picked another JYP song and I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.  Minari picked a song that (at least in my opinion) doesn't have any highlights or particularly interesting hooks at all.  (Soo Min in her parts actually made it sound a bit better than the original, but it wasn't enough to overcome the song-choice fail.)  Then, of course, Boyfriend got a huge build-up and the highest scores from the judges. (TBH, I wasn't that impressed.  The arrangement was obviously provided by YG as a hand-me down from the Mix & Match show where Bobby, Jun-Hoe and Hanna Jang did such a great job with that song.  I was surprised though to see the judges (especially YG) pretending like it was some completely new arrangement.)

At the beginning, the only question I really had in my mind was whether Kwins or Boyfriend would come out on top.  I was expecting Boyfriend, but there was some doubt in my mind...until I saw the judges reaction to Boyfriend's performance.  I then knew that Kwins were going to have to settle for 2nd place.

I really like Shannon and the Minari members.  Shannon is a great singer and I trust she'll be hugely successful in the future.  Ara really grew on me throughout the season.  I hardly even notice her in the early episodes, but as things progressed I realized that she has a really unique charisma and combine that with her all-around skill set...I think she's got a bright future.  Min-Joo is adorable and talented and seems to bring some polish to every group she performs with.  I hope she'll start getting the recognition she deserves in the future.

Soo Min is really soooo talented and gorgeous.  But even more than that, my impression is that she's incredibly smart and deep..and level-headed.  It's almost easier for me to imagine her actually owning and running a hugely successful company in the future, than it is to see her spend the next several years just dancing and singing on stage. (I would suggest SM Entertainment as a name, but somebody already took the "SM" initials as a name.) But I guess for now the singing and dancing is what makes her happy.

This is the weirdest season end for me (after watching all 6 seasons).  Usually, I always had definite favorites all the way to the end.  This year, I like them all equally.  I'm always happy for the ones that make it through to the next round, but really disappointed to see the others get disqualified.

Even above and beyond her talents as an idol, it's the fact that Lee Soomin strikes me as a deeply impressive person that makes me want to follow her career and root for her.

Funny how Soomin has become far and away my favorite PD101 season 1 trainee when she barely registered on my radar during the actual PD101 broadcast.

If anyone is interested soomin's Instagram is little_soom

I am following her, and left her a supportive message on her picture of the support banners. It's nice that she does speak English so she could possibly read my message at some point.

Thanks I just joined her IG and left an encouraging message. Wish she would also post in English as well.

Also PD101's Kim Sohye reveals on radio that she is supporting Lee Soomin on Kpopstar.

Apparently Soomin was one of the first to assist her with improving her skills during PD101 but biased Mnet only chose to highlight Kim Sejeong's efforts and ignored Soomin.

I feel like Soomin's expression have really never been that bad, it's just that she goes blank when she's nervous and not performing. While performing she always matches whatever song she is in.

Agree.

She is like a stage chameleon.

Shy and unassuming off stage, almost tries to blend into the background. Put her on stage and in front of a mic and BANG!

You get this :

You want fiery and swag? You got it. You want charismatic and elegant? You got it. Sexy and bubbly? She's delivering that and more.

I feel like Kpopstar almost does her a disservice by playing up her vocals but hiding her emotional and creative expression and painting her as this stone faced vocal technician when she's so much more than that.

Someone should get JYP and YG to view these videos and show them how much they have mis-understood Soomin.

Soomin appears unexpressive on Kpopstar because she's probably suffering from mild depression after losing her way and leaving Fantagio which she has known almost her entire teenage years. Also because she's not been given songs which allow her to display her more girlish playful side.

Call me biased but all the news and speculation about who gets signed with which agency and almost no news about Soomin's next move makes me laugh silently.

I'm almost 100% certain that there's a fierce bidding war going on right now between JYP and YG behind the scenes to sign Soomin.

She's strong in all areas, has a distinct memorable voice that comes across clearly both on stage and in recordings,a very cool chic vibe and strong leadership aura and a calm unflappable demeanor.

She's the pick of the entire Season 6 Kpopstar cohort and I'm shocked no other OH forumer sees this.

My 2 favorites together again on Soomin's IG.

https://instagram.com/p/BS2id6cFLio/

If the judges had not split up Soomin and Sohee, I think they would have won Kpopstar.

They were developing a nice synergy and gelling as a team and even beat Boyfriend head to head.
