This show did a lot more for her than P101 ever did.

Having said that I don't know if she wants to be in a girl group but rather be a soloist. I think that's why she left Fantagio. I could be wrong, she can very well have said otherwise on K-pop star, but that's how I feel not knowing anything else. 

Hopefully she wins and gets YG+JYP money and Antenna musical guidance.

Not sure if JYP would put her on their next gg considering their oldest trainee is the same age as Soomin and the rest are pretty young. I think JYP will either hold their next gg for a couple years which I don't think Soomin needs, she is pretty much ready to debut imo, or they will go for a more innocent/cute concept which I feel would be a bad match for her.

PD101 and KPop Star 6 are 2 very different shows albeit that they are both survival shows...  PD101 was more of a show about the journey to reach the final 11 to debut in a gg...   KPS 6 is a show about becoming the last person standing so to speak to get the big prize...  KPS6 is very much more focused on individuals and is very personal insofar as the judges provide specific advice and comments on each and every performance...   So yes, in terms of feedback and visibility, KPS 6 has provided a lot, this is not to say PD101 was worthless...  remember, PD101 had recognised trainers working and really provided the platform for them to gain a lot of experience...  One point that PD101 has taught all of them... is that what and how you say, act and respond to things are so very important...  

In terms of why she left Fantagio, I suspect it was more about Fantagio not believing in Soomin and Soomin trying to find direction after PD101...  I would love to learn more about Soomin & Yoojung as they both were in Fantagio together and both went to the same high school... 

Not sure if JYP will sign Soomin, it's a wish of course but nevertheless, it will take something very special before JYP does that...

I'm so scared for Soomin. She did the best vocally of the 3 JYP girls but was ultimately sabotaged by JYP's poor song choice.

 

I'm looking forward so much to seeing her debut soon, preferably with Somi in JYP's NGG and I feel like her chances of signing with JYP and debuting ASAP increases the further she makes it into the competition.

 

I "lost" her once when I inadvertently overlooked her talent during PD101 and I feel like I was given the privilege/2nd chance of "rediscovering" her during Kpopstar 6.

 

It would be too cruel now to experience how awesome she is and again lose her from Kpop and not see her again in MVs and music shows and TV variety shows.

 

 

Yeah, it would be a huge pity, but i suspect that regardless, Soomin's exposure on KPS6 has been huge and there will definitely be agencies on the look out...  Less so unfortunately for Minju who is 22/23, but one never knows...  

Signing with JYP after the show...  possibly but likely not in my books however much we wish...  If she does, and does debut with Soomi, then that will truly also be a dark horse story...  along similar lines of Kim Sohye... 

 

We likely won't see Soomin in any gg that debuts in 2017...  i.e. Pristin (bulk of who are PD101 girls, S*tory (Ara / PD101 GaEul), SEEART (PD101 Sua), S Empire (PD101 Hyeri)...   But there are still others, CUBE (Soyeon), DreamT (SiWoon), HYWY (Haien/Suhyun) to name a few...  There's very little chance that Fantagio will eat humble pie and ask Soomin to rejoin...

The conspiracy theorist in me suspects that JYP wanted all 6 trainee girls to advance to the final 10. Since he has the save option after Sohee won the battle audition, he deliberately threw this performance so that YG's girls would win.

 

He is counting on 2 of the 3 JYP girls to win the rematch through to the final 10 on merit, then he'll use the save option to rescue the last remaining girl.

 

That's what I tell myself to keep my hopes up anyway.  

 

 

I just finished watching the episode with subs, frankly, both performances were great, albeit the parts of the JYP performance was ever so slightly out of sync...  but what do you expect with only 3 weeks of practice on a song & dance like that...  regardless of your conspiracy theory...  it ain't going to happen...3 out of the final 4 spots aren't going to go to JYP...  1 certainly, perhaps 2 but unlikely 3 especially when you consider that there is Shannon, Ma Eun Jin and Lee Eun amongst others still in the running...  Han B likely has very little chance, but you never know in rematch performances...

Anyhow, here's to hoping that Soomin, Minju and Sohee all make it...

Either Soomin or Minju or both will be out...  Sigh, it's all JYP's fault!  lol, he should have just left it to the girls to choose...  or specifically left it to Minju to choose...

I remain very optimistic that Soomin will make the final 10 based on her performance...   As the show said, it's their performance to lose...

 

Remember, there are basically only 5 open seats with the final seat reserved for JYP's wild card...

 

Of the JYP candidates, I think Minju and Sohee will make it based on merit (assuming that Sohee doesn't mess up badly)

 

I guess it would be a toss up between Han Byeol, Lee Soomin and Sung Yoo Jin... but I could definitely picture JYP using the card to save Soomin if Soomin wasn't able get one of the 5 open seats...

I just hope they get a song that is full of energy...   I think that's why Ara/Hyerim combo are a huge force as they bring energy, coordination and Hyerim's song selection has been awesome...

Just thinking out loud :

 

If Soomin ended up being in a project girl group formed from Kpopstar, it might actually increase her chances of getting signed by JYP.

 

This is of course assuming the Kpopstar GG attains IOI-levels of success and fame.

 

Nice to dream, however the likelihood is very low in my opinion...   not impossible mind you...  with Soomin being a free agent and having received well deserved visibility...  I suspect that there will be agencies wanting to sign her...  hopefully she won't make the same mistake as Minju did...  

Regardless, I couldn't imagine that a KPop Star 6 group would come anywhere close to IOI for a variety of reasons...  PD101 had consistent online voting week after week at the end of which, basically the most popular 11 were chosen, they were promoted by a 3rd party agency and had solid money behind them coming from immediate endorsements and CF's...  I couldn't picture YG or JYP putting serious money behind them when that money can be better spent on their own groups... Twice, Black Pink...  Besides IOI, I can't recall any other project groups making big money....  and why would it when the project group only has a limited shelf life...

But yeah, I'm so hoping that Soomin get's picked up and debuts with a decent gg with prospects...

I would have preferred a Hyerim/Ara/Soomin combo but basically the split the 3 groups down the middle. But I would very much prefer Minju then Chrisha in all honesty. If I recall, the only time that Soomin partnered with Minju was in the agency battle and JYP chose the song, Minju imo has not really shown much improvement due her partnering with Chrisha... but she is versatile enough to partner up with Ara/Soomin. In terms of fan bases, I gotta believe that Minju (ex-ark), Ara (S*tory) and Soomin collectively have a much bigger base then Sohee/Chrisha/Hyerim...

Just got back to the land of broadband... have not visited the KPopStar 6 thread yet, haven't even watched the final episode where Boyfriend takes the win...  oh well, I'll get round to it sometime...

I remember this clip, the interesting thing is that when you look back at all the news articles back then, they were all suggesting that Soomin had given up her dreams and was leaving the industry...  in retrospect, it was likely that Fantagio had decided not to include her in Weki hence her departure and there was likely little she could say without her words being twisted...  But I'm really glad that it looks like Soomin could part of a group that is even bigger then Weki....

Just a reminder : Soomin's birthday is coming up on 28 March.

 

 

Also if I may permit myself a mini-rant :

 

 

 

I see on twitter a small backlash against Soomin fans from the Favegirls fandom, accusing Soomin fans of being akgae.

 

I acknowledge that sometimes Soomin fans can be overboard asking for Soomin when the other Favegirls make posts on social media.

 

However :

 

1) I think some are actually trolls trying to incite hatred against Soomin from the Favegirl fanbase

 

2) Soomin is actually underrepresented in Favegirls' social media considering her general public recognition and popularity

 

3) I feel like Soomin fans and other Favegirls fans are an awkward fit. The other Favegirls fans tend to like the girlish bubbly cute personas while Soomin is more cool and chic, so our fanbases tend to be polar opposites.

 

4) Sometimes I feel like an unwanted alien as a Soomin fan when seeing other Favegirls fans interact.

I hear you, but I think there are a few things going on here imo and hopefully it will work itself out eventually, when they debut, things will change...  as we saw when IOI debuted, all the Sohye stuff sort of faded into the background...

 

Back to my point, Soomin came into Fave with a following behind her (aka PD101 and KPS6), the tough times post her PD101 when she left Fantagio (kicked out imo through no fault of her own) has definitely left a mark...  You can see Soomin minding her P's & Q's during interviews and fan cams, recall the her evil edit from PD101...  

 

Things happen for a reason and I think she is now better of with Fave then if she had debut with Weki Meki, where she would always have played 2nd fiddle to Yoojung and Doyeon...  I do think privately she gets along with the Fave girls, Bowon and her sitting together during the bts video of Omona...  (by the way, where can you download that stream video?)

 

In any case, I am just happy that she's found a home and a group that will definitely debut and I suspect will be around for some time... unlike BulDok, DayDay...  Hopefully A.De will grow, I have no fear of Gugudan, DIA, Weki Meki, CLC, April will be around for some time...

 

So I'm so looking forward to Soomin's Debut...

okay, just to back track slightly, I don't think I saw this...  but enjoy...  during the final episode when Soomin's name was called the shots were all over the place and one really didn't get the feeling (imo) of how much she is liked by some of the girls...  so this fan cam was what I was looking for...
