Another fan-made video compilation of Lee Soo-min, from her past trainee life, to PD101, to now on Kpopstar.

I am shocked at 2:05 of the video. Soo-min was 16 years old then but so fluent in English she's basically native level.  Also her spoken Mandarin is quite impressive as well.

Does she have wealthy parents who provided her special schooling? Even if she was given special schooling, she must have an impressive intellect/gift for languages for her to be effectively trilingual.

Not sure if her parents are wealthy or not, but you can assume they are at least okay if not more than that financially considering trainee live is pretty expensive. There aren't many "poor" trainees unless they are street cast or scouted for the most part. About her schooling you can see that she used to go to Seoul Music High-school on the Uptown Funk video along with Yoojung and possibly more of the Fantagio P101 girls. Not sure if she is still there but up to 3-6 months after P101 ended she was on a SMHS showcase, so my guess she is still there or probably graduated from there. The fmv probably has more info but since I don't speak or read Korean I don't know.

Danggg her English is amazing, like I guessed so because of how she sings in English but I am still so impressed. I don't understand Chinese of course but it sounds really good! Soomin would be a great asset to any company's girl group, someone better pick her up!

(Hopefully JYP but I digress)

It's so good seeing her get more confident and be able to showcase her talent on K-pop Star. This show did a lot more for her than P101 ever did.

Having said that I don't know if she wants to be in a girl group but rather be a soloist. I think that's why she left Fantagio. I could be wrong, she can very well have said otherwise on K-pop star, but that's how I feel not knowing anything else. But maybe now that she has had success on K-pop star she might feel differently about it too so who knows.

Also iirc whoever wins this season of K-pop star will be promote by the 3 labels jointly. Hopefully she wins and gets YG+JYP money and Antenna musical guidance.

Not sure if JYP would put her on their next gg considering their oldest trainee is the same age as Soomin and the rest are pretty young. I think JYP will either hold their next gg for a couple years which I don't think Soomin needs, she is pretty much ready to debut imo, or they will go for a more innocent/cute concept which I feel would be a bad match for her.

Well, so looking forward to the Soomin/Ara/Minju combo for the final run up to the finale.... here's to them winning...

Which would be so fitting for this season's slogan.... 'Last Chance'

All K-Pop: The 6 girls in K-Pop Star 6 to be regrouped into 2 groups of 3

Kind of curious to what is going to happen to these girls. Looks like the production team, the judges and the public like them. Wonder if they can or will pull off a group after the show no matter the results.

I think SBS may form a group from these 6 trainees just to have something to compete against rival network Mnet's IOI.

If the group is successful and SBS may well invest a lot of time and resources to guarantee their success, then that would make a great advertorial and launching off point for a Produce 101-like show on SBS in the future.

Basically, I can see good things happening for Soomin especially if she wins or places very high in this competition. She almost certainly will get a contract and a quickish debut from Kpopstar 6. I just pray that it is with JYP or YG.

Not sure how that will work. Iirc some of the girls are already in companies of their own. Not sure that their entertainment agencies would just let them be a group with girls from other companies. Remember how hard it was for IOI to get the companies to agree on a contract. Unless the girls leave their companies which would still take a while, I don't see the companies just letting them leave without litigation. But who knows. Maybe they all play ball and it ends up happening. I just personally think it's going to be hard to do that.

Soomin fancam from the after show of the last aired K-pop Star

The fans are wishing her a happy birthday here. Looks like her birthday is March 28th.

And here are some unofficial youtube uploads from her performance since SBS hasn't uploaded it yet.

It's a shame Soomin didn't make it to the end, but really happy with how far she got.

I really like Something but I think the only voice that matched well with the song was Soomin. If they had chosen a song that matched all three maybe they could have made it, but it' s all in the past now no use crying over spilled milk.

Hopefully we get to see her performing in music shows soon however that may come.

Interesting that she had a meal with IU.....

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but just in case you are not it's probably just a mistranslation. The article probably says "share a company with".
