Another fan-made video compilation of Lee Soo-min, from her past trainee life, to PD101, to now on Kpopstar.

I am shocked at 2:05 of the video. Soo-min was 16 years old then but so fluent in English she's basically native level.  Also her spoken Mandarin is quite impressive as well.

Does she have wealthy parents who provided her special schooling? Even if she was given special schooling, she must have an impressive intellect/gift for languages for her to be effectively trilingual.

While waiting for next Sunday's episode, here are more BTS videos of Soomin on Kpop-star.

They really reveal her more outgoing and helpful nature that the TV episodes fail to capture.

I'm almost 100% certain Soomin would make a great girl group leader whichever agency she debuts with. She's very good at all the core skills of a girl group member: dance, vocals, stagecraft, even rapping. Some people are jack-of-all-trades and master of none. Soomin is master of all.

She has the ability to get along and work well with any other girl idol trainee she's paired with on Kpopstar. She also doesn't seem to have issues maintaining her weight and figure even when she took a break from being a trainee, being 167cm tall helps I guess. She also has the aura of a full-grown woman even though she is only 17, which was why JYP mistook her for Krisha's nuna even though they are both the same age. Her fluency in English and Mandarin is just icing on the cake.

I'm so scared for Soomin. She did the best vocally of the 3 JYP girls but was ultimately sabotaged by JYP's poor song choice.

I'm looking forward so much to seeing her debut soon, preferably with Somi in JYP's NGG and I feel like her chances of signing with JYP and debuting ASAP increases the further she makes it into the competition.

I "lost" her once when I inadvertently overlooked her talent during PD101 and I feel like I was given the privilege/2nd chance of "rediscovering" her during Kpopstar 6.

It would be too cruel now to experience how awesome she is and again lose her from Kpop and not see her again in MVs and music shows and TV variety shows.

The conspiracy theorist in me suspects that JYP wanted all 6 trainee girls to advance to the final 10. Since he has the save option after Sohee won the battle audition, he deliberately threw this performance so that YG's girls would win.

He is counting on 2 of the 3 JYP girls to win the rematch through to the final 10 on merit, then he'll use the save option to rescue the last remaining girl.

That's what I tell myself to keep my hopes up anyway.   :rlytearpls:

I came across this video while browsing youtube.

Do someone know where the original video come from?

I think this is a fan made compilation of all of Soomin's BTS/deleted scenes from Kpop-star.

There isn't ONE single video but the fan found multiple different video segments all over the internet and compiled them together him/herself.

A Soomin fan posted the video above. The title of the video says that Soomin is in the Top 10.

He also posted comments under his own video and according to him, Soomin made it into the Top 10 with Sohee.

Not sure how reliable is this source though. Just read the comments below the YT video above.

He seems to be a longtime fan of Soomin with videos of Soomin on his channel dating all the way back to just after PD101 ended

For those who are blocked from viewing the performance on the official SBS YT channel due to region restrictions, you can either use a free VPN extension like Hola or alternatively tubeunlock.net :

Just thinking out loud :

If Soomin ended up being in a project girl group formed from Kpopstar, it might actually increase her chances of getting signed by JYP. JYP's other candidates for his new GG are all raw unpolished trainees other than Somi.

JYP might want Sohee and Soomin to build up their names first by being in a nationally famous girl group, sort of like SBS' version of IOI.

By the time they finish promoting with SBS' Kpop-star's girl group after 1 year, their fame and public recognition might be more comparable to Somi's, so that it will not be a situation of "Somi and friends"

Furthermore, Sohee and Soomin are basically ready to debut : might as well put them to use while waiting for the less polished JYP trainees to train up their skills to their level and Somi's.

Also the Kpopstar GG will be jointly administered by JYP, YG and Antenna so the promotion and publicity budget will be spread out amongst the 3 agencies. If Sohee and Soomin subsequently join JYP after the year is over, it's as if JYP got YG and Antenna to copay for his pre-publicity for his new girl group.

This is of course assuming the Kpopstar GG attains IOI-levels of success and fame.

But the current ratings for Kpop-star 6 is better than PD101. Or so I heard somewhere?

Also, those voting in PD101 are probably young teens/young adults while the audience demographics for Kpopstar may skew a little bit older and may be of a wider age range. So Kpopstar GG may not get as many hardcore fans as IOI but may actually get wider public attention right from the start.

After so much publicity about the trainees and how they will be temporarily managed by JYP and YG, do you really think JYP and YG would want the public humiliation of the S Korean public seeing their "project" fail? It wouldn't reflect well on JYP and YG, particularly after millions in Korea saw JYP and YG basically giving the girl trainees a tongue bath week in week out.( Especially Sohee and Krisha) If such "wonderful, outstanding and exceptional" trainees failed, they would have no excuse of saying : we had poor quality girl group candidates when JYP/YG themselves showered them with praises constantly for the past 6 months. It would land squarely at JYP/YG mismanagement.

Basically, it is in YG/JYP's best interests for the Kpopstar GG project to be a wild success -- the entire nation's eyes are on these 2 PDnims after seeing these 2 jokers proclaim these 6 girls as extra-ordinary. YG and JYP's reputations as acute assessors of talent and top-flight mentors of trainees are on the line. They CAN'T let these girls fail.

Also SBS might purposely throw all the money they can muster at this project group, if only to snub Mnet. And primarily so that a successful Kpopstar project group would be the best advertising in case they want to create a rival program to PD101.

Yessss. I'm biased but I thought Soomin/Sohee deserved to win and glad JYP/YG thought so as well.

That they managed to dethrone perennial frontrunners Boyfriend is a huge feat in and of itself.

I get the feeling that Soomin/Sohee are just building momentum and are slight favorites to reach and win the finals at the moment.
