Controversial star Edison Chen is officially back as he was seen by many in Guangzhou, filming for director Lou Ye's new project.

Representatives for Lou didn't respond to confirm Chen's participation. But web users have posted various photos online to show that Chen was acting in a film in Guangzhou. Sources said he was cast in a new crime film by Lou entitled "A Rain Cloud in the Sky" (a project formerly known as "Hell Lovers").

The film will also star Jing Boran and Ma Sichun. This is the first commerical film directed by Lou as he was previously an art-house director and won awards for films such as "Mystery," "Suzhou River" and "Blind Massage."

Chen is a Hong Kong film actor, musician, producer, entrepreneur, and fashion designer active since 1999 with critically applauded performances in films like "Infernal Affairs," "Dog Bite Dog" and more.

However, in early 2008, Chen was involved in a widely publicised sex scandal when sexually explicit nude photographs, taken four years earlier, of him with other female celebrities, including Cecilia Cheung and Gillian Chung, became widely circulated on the internet after a computer technician stole and uploaded the photos after accessing Chen's computer during a repair.

As a result, Chen made a public apology on Feb. 21, 2008 to Hong Kong people and the victims involved and indirectly admitted his guilt and expressed remorse and subsequently announced his indefinite departure from the Hong Kong entertainment industry at a press conference.

However, Chen clearly cannot resist his desire to act. In a documentary titled, "Being EDC" made by Vice China last year, Chen said, "I have not made films in nearly eight years. My passion has been taken from me, and acting was where my passion was. I really want to act. (Failing to have chance to act) is my only regret now."

His confession was supported by many forgiving web users, saying, "His privacy was exposed by terrible hackers; what did he do wrong?" Others dismissed his"moral trial" in the media, saying, "In today’s social climate, seemingly well-behaved celebrities may not be more decent than Edison Chen."

If Edison popped up in this era, people would have pardoned him already and Edison would have became the Justin Bieber of China.

Edison was too futuristic for his own good.

You can't deny that he's good looking but no to them sex scandals. Gotta make it private honey

Well, it's more because he's too dumb to fix his computer or delete those photos before sending his computer to tech support. It's really the computer guy's fault for making them public. That said, back then celebrities tried to all look clean and innocent and people believed them, now no one really cares or believes.

Having videos/photos stolen from him wasn't as bad as his penchant for underage girls.

When he was like 25 he started dating Vincy Yeung(just 16) and later photos of her naked were in that scandal.

Then a couple years ago(he's in his 30s BTW) he was dating a 15/16 year old model Cammi Tse and a blowjob video got leaked.
