BTW I like your posts a lot<3 I actually knew about EXO a little before monster, Growl was the first MV I saw but my first thought was "there's too many of them" plus I thought sth like "really nice song" but overall they seemed a little like a "typical boygroup" to me (probably because BigB*ng was my first group and I thought all of kpop is that crazy so I guess Growl seemed just too normal) but then I heard somwhere Chen&Baekhyun performance on Immortal Songs and was shook by those vocal so Iooked them up again, heard more of their songs and got more interested. Maeo 13,015 Posted March 14, 2017 Share Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) The reason that their digital sales were low in 2016 was bc Monster&Lotto arent public friendly songs and had little to no promotion, CMB&LMR were public friendly and were promoted a lot, especially CMB. Lucky One could have done really well but was overshadowed by Monster.(I wish LO was the repack song instead of Lotto tbh). Title tracks aside, the B-sides of EX'ACT sold about the same as those of EXODUS.(exluding the repacks of both). Same goes For Life. It had zero promotions while SFY had. As you can see, it all depends on promotions and whether its a public friendly song or not. I hope that SM will get their shit together this year and promote the hell out of exo. And tbh, as much as I love exo's winter albums, I wish SM would just release a single instead. I agree with you about Lucky One, imo it should be their main title and monster as repack or at least for a repack instead of Lotto. It had a similar vibe to Love me right but with a more modern color to it - it was quite public friendly without being cheap and totally "easy listening" - if they promoted it properly and gave it a little more entertaining choreo (actually I think the current is already really good, just add some more memorable moves to it) and it could be another moderate hit like CMB and LMR. Maeo 13,015 Posted March 14, 2017 Share Posted March 14, 2017 (edited) it's a hard decision with lotte because one the one hand 1. it gives them a lot of exposure to "the people" in Korea, lotte is almost everywhere=EXO faces are everywhere 2. the probably get nice profit from it 3. not say they probably have some legal obligations and can't just "back off". On the other hand it can really hit them in China and they need to keep as much fans there as possible if they don't want the hallyu ban to affect them. But since the 5th year anniversary is near, i decided to just pull myself together and post in the main tread. I've been a EXO fan since 2014, my bias is Chen, but it changes like constantly, these boys are ruining my bias list everytime. Even their caption/text is 80-90% same I actually saw many ARM*s on twitter telling that girl to stop cause it's gonna cause even more mess.
