Beyonce & Rihanna Called Out For ‘Whitening’ Their Skin By Singer Mica Paris

Singer Mica Paris threw some dangerous accusations at stars like Beyonce and Rihanna, alleging that these powerful women of color have lightened their skin to appear “more caucasian.†What a disgusting thought!

Mica Paris penned an inflammatory op-ed for Daily Mail that alleged something serious: stars like Beyonce, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, and even Iman, have been whitening their skin because they’re ashamed of their natural color. Click through to read Mica’s bizarre reasoning.

“The moment I saw the photos, I thought [beyonce] looked different somehow,†Mica wrote, describing pics of Bey at a New York appearance. “Closer inspection confirmed the reason — not only was her skin paler than ever, but her features seemed more refined. Whether down to clever contoured make-up or a skillful surgeon’s knife, the bridge of her nose seemed slimmer, giving her face a more pointed appearance. And the overall result? Let’s not beat around the bush here: what with the tumbling blonde hair and all, the world’s highest-paid black music star of all time looked more, well, Caucasian.â€

Wow. What Mica is accusing Beyonce of can not be taken lightly. Without basis behind her claim, it’s extremely offensive to say that Beyonce’s intentionally changing her appearance to seem more white. Beyonce’s allowed to style herself any way she wants, blonde hair and all; and let’s not forget that appearance is altered with makeup, as well as in different light. In front of the flash of tons of cameras on a red carpet, it’s totally plausible to look a bit washed out.

Mica went on to accuse Rihanna of the same, highlighting a blonde hairstyle she wore in 2012. Wow. Nobody was safe from Mica’s rant. “It’s the reason, in my view, that other stars, including the Hispanic Eva Longoria and Jennifer Lopez, appear to have reached for the skin-lightening cream,†Mica wrote. “I have no doubt that the widely held belief that to be darker makes you in some way inferior is to blame for this trend — something that undoubtedly harks way back to the days of colonialism and slavery, where the children born of affairs with masters were granted better jobs on account of their paler skin.â€

Mica is correct in her assertion that many believe darker means inferior, and that’s been the case for a long time, it’s reprehensible that she’s accusing these women of subscribing to this belief themselves. She doesn’t know them, and has no idea of their beliefs or even beauty practices! To say that they’re attempting to warp their entire appearances is horrifying.

Idk. Can't say it's to make herself more white. In fact I disagree wholeheartedly. I do think it's for aesthetic reasons though. Weird thing about the other chicks argument is that dark skin is definitely in in America.

Dark skin is only in in the US if it's not on a black person. And the darkness is only as deep as a tan.

You guys don't take in your thoughts that mixed people can tan and "untan" easily.

If my skin sees an inch of sun it tans in 0.2 seconds, while the rest of my body is white as a corpse.

as a resident OH black person, I can tell you that my skin shade changes as well.

When I was younger I was really light skinned, now I'm more on the dark side. Sometimes I'm lighter tho and sometimes I'm darker. It sorta depends on the season for me

Guess they don't know what lighting is. Or the fact that black people can tan. But okay. This is the same BS people have been going on about since the start of their careers.

You want to see a black celebrity that whitened? Look at Sammy Sosa. Or Lil Kim.

It has been said for a long time now that Beyonce does NOT have french ascendency as she stated and that she has been indeed been trying to look lighter, that hasn't been secret in the industry for a while now.

I agree with what this girl is saying. Their hair has been light/blonde for a while now and with what purpose? I think it's cool to change your style but Beyonce has been keeping it for a long time already and there are already enough blondes. Why not own up to your natural color? It will probably look even better but maybe she keeps it blonde to look lighter.

Rihanna, JLo, and Eva didn't start bleaching, they stopped tanning. People with warmer skin tones tan extremely easily, so if they go from tanning to not tanning it can result in a big difference in appearance. If anything they should be applauded for embracing their natural skin, not shamed for being paler than people expect them to be.

Beyonce clearly used to tan too, but it's hard to say if she started bleaching instead or if she's actually that pale naturally. She does seem like she's bleached a little bit.
