I kinda feel like her storyline wont be too deep. We are already 18 episodes in and it would seem unrealistic if EVERY character had a sad/dark/secret past. Her character is a breath of fresh air, because it balances out all of the tension that is going on with everyone else. Plus she still has the story with that crazy sasaeng going on.

I'm saying that the crazy saesang story will be her deep storyline.

I actually haven't finished watching the episode because I knew I was going to be furious at a certain scene and I wanted to stay in a good mood yesterday.

I like cinnamon bun eccentric Jiwon IRL but her character is going to be pure evil and I am going to dislike her to the depths, I can tell. Not even a term of endearment either. I. am. going. to. hate. her.

I guess she's done with IMX. So if RGP still have some performances in the future, she won't be there.

No question. I know she was one of the members of RGP who wasn't either signed to IMX or a free agent so I can't say I'm surprised she made the jump to the Unt.

Must have been a relatively recent decision as she still participated in the Japanese showcase last month. Who is left that's in limbo in terms of where they are signed?

Just the scene in general I felt like could've been executed better. Suji did the right thing waiting for pd to help clear up the misconceptions, but he kinda made things worse. Not everyone is like Suji and even she had a hard time trusting him in the beginning. The girls had a right to be furious. They are working the butts off and putting on so much stress for the competition, as trainees they have every right to question the fairness of it.

(not speaking to you specifically with this because I saw you address a lot of what I said)

I thought that scene and the way it was set up made perfect sense and made me appreciate how well this show connects together even more.

P runs away from problems. He ran away when Suah died. He runs away and puts up a wall whenever he faces an issue. He puts up a wall in front of the girls under the guise of "wise and intelligent producer" but he's drinking whiskey in his room to deal with Suah's death. In many ways, P has been a bit of a hypocrite. He preaches about unity and about trusting others to get through problems but he's always been the least likely person on staff to do it.

Suji wasn't going to reveal anything at all. She has kept in every single secret and detail that she's run into this entire season. Youngjoo is the one that confronts and goes after the truth. Suji sinks to the background and lets things play out. Would have been out of character for her to speak up.

Plus...and this is the big part that people are missing...Suah effectively killed herself.  The only way to really tell the story is to mention that big detail and I can understand their hesitance in telling the full story. Even though all of the members are close, there is still a stigma against suicide and I could see why both individuals would want to hold off on that. Although, I am positive that Danoh/Yeseul both know the full story based on how Yeseul reacted to the girls' complaints.

I fully expect Suji/P to come upfront to everyone in a way that 1. lets everyone know the full story 2. lets P get a little closure and 3. gets sympathy for Suji. Maybe a press conference or something similar after Suji talks to her parents.

As for the rest of this amazing episode:

  • The creepy paparazzi guy can kick rocks
  • So can the photographer lady
  • Haseo is screwed.
  • I can't believe how good this show is

Finally, a non-spoiler comment:

If this show was more popular, you could make an argument for some Rookie Actress of the Year awards. Yeeun especially, omg she's great.

Ep 22 thoughts

  • Suji is such a great actress
  • I'm glad that she got the truth out quickly. Other dramas would have dragged it out.
  • At some point, the 10 members were going to have to get close (since they debut as 10) and this episode appears to be the bridge towards that.
  • The Youngjoo/Suji scene was really sweet and highlights Youngjoo's character growth.
  • The situation with Haseo isn't THAT common but Korea is a conservative society so I have heard of instances where families like this exist.
  • Squeeled when Yeeun ran over to Jiwon to encourage her
  • The dancing scenes were sooooo cheesy but I am glad they didn't automatically lead to the grandfather giving in.
  • CEO is a powerhouse actor and was able to finally show his acting chops at the end.

ep 22

- I like how they already knew how to dance to One For All with both teams combined already :////
- Haseo's grandfather is mean >:(
- I didn't really understand Bomi's story but ok
- The pacing for the drama is really slow. There's only 2 episodes left and we're still on Haseo's arc :/

To be fair, Haseo's arc is the only arc that's really left. Pretty much everything else has been wrapped up at this point. If anything, the pacing is incredibly quick for a 24 episode drama.

Bomi's story has been hinted at before in the drama and gives a good backstory into why CEO is so adamant in getting RGP off the ground. Bomi was a singer who was sponsored by Haseo's grandfather. She worked at the restaurant and CEO helped her out. Unfortunately, the CEO was also pretty immature at the time and ran with the wrong crowd. Her restaurant got destroyed and she disappeared as well (Implied that something happened to Bomi herself). CEO has dealt with the guilt ever since and that's why he's fighting so hard for Haseo.

they performed their new RGP10 song (the ending song right now) at mu:con... and holy shit it was a bop. Definitely one of the best songs so far.

Also its basically confirmed that RGP will still continue after the drama is sone because Yeeun said something along the lines in English, "theres 2 episodes left. the group will work hard to achieve our dreams"

i cant really remember lol.

EDIT: Not End But And

EDIT 2:

Does this group know how to make bad music? It doesn't seem like they understand the concept lmao

Youngjoo is stunningly gorgeous!!! I expect to be casted in another drama in no time. The clip of the debut teams first performance (which has 1.4 million views) has tons of people commenting saying how they amazed by her beauty cause she apparently reminds them of Krystal of f(x) (although I personally don't see the resemblance.) I feel like she can rock a sophisticated concept the best with her soothing voice and the aura she gives off.

Similar aura to Krystal. Cool, calm and chic.

I started watching this morning finally and holy hell am I impressed. I'm at episode 9 at the moment and I'm still in awe of how well this drama is tackling serious topics. That was definitely not something I expected going in to it. I've also got to give cred to all of the main cast for their fantastic acting. I wasn't sure what to expect of them since they were selected by SNS but they're all so good. There's none of the overacting I've seen on other idol dramas and the emotions of the characters are displayed so well through the girls body language. That kind of subtlety, where expression is allowed to tell the story more than speech is rare. I also really appreciate how real all of the girls feel, the script has allowed them to be bitchy and selfish and complex and yet still sympathetic, these are characteristics the public rarely allows idols to show.

This show legit may be the best idol-based k-drama ever made.

And it gets better and better as the episodes roll along so something to look forward to.

My curiosity lies with what the plans will be after the show is over. IMX has talked about keeping the show alive but what does that mean? One aspect definitely involves global broadcast rights and which networks will pick up the show once the Amazon Prime stranglehold ends this week. I expect Vix/Dramafever to pick up a license but who else? Does Bandai-Namco want to try to get the show dubbed on Japanese TV? Is IMX going to try to get SEA? I'll be curious to see what happens.

What happens with the group? IMX states that RGP will promote after the show but how? Will they promote heavily in Japan and try to gain a small yet profitable fanbase there? Will they continue to promote as a Korean group? They have plenty of options. Most of the members have joined The Unit/MIXNINE but I did notice that RGP still appears to be a 10 member group.

I don't know if the Korean ratings were ever a big focus on IMX/Banco. It was on low-watched 3 cable channels so I would be surprised if any episode hit .5. I think their end game is aftershow promotions.

Yeah, their reconciliation was more implied than anything. There was no big announcement/feel good moment with the other girls. I also think only Sori knew the significance of the hair pin, so even if the rest of the Trainees saw Yeeun wearing it, they wouldn't know that it meant anything.

I can't remember what the title was called, but they released a game with a male character who was training to be an Idol who dressed up as a girl.

Which led to how realistic this show is. Not everyone is going to know every little detail about every conflict (unless your name is Lee Suji but I digress...) so it'd make sense that some members know some deeper details but the rest of the group only notices the basics.

Episode 24

A fitting end to an amazing show that blew away my wildest expectations

  • The Haseo storyline ended as expected and ended well. The past 3-4 episodes have been leading up to her Grandpa letting her go so I'm glad they didn't drag it out any further. We all know she's going to debut. They set up his change of heart with his meeting with the CEO, flashbacks of the girl he sponsored and watching her perform. The final scene with him was perfect. He clearly doesn't want her to go into that industry but he also understands the importance of letting people chase their dreams (the entire damn point of the show lol). Well done, PD
  • I'm glad they showed the busking and the little things that real life idol groups do to gain popularity. Real groups busk and hand out flyers. They rely on word of mouth so that was a nice little touch.
  • The concert venue made sense for the size of the group and what they were trying to do. Too small and it would have just been a busk. Too big and it would have been unrealistic.
  • The Producer's storyline ended well too. He finally got the fuck over himself and realized that there isn't anything he can do to change the past except affect the future. Yes, his (and Haseo's) timing was convenient but it's a K-drama. It happens.
  • The concert itself was done perfectly and I am SO GLAD they handled it this way. I was so worried the lazy option would be taken and they'd magically get fans to their concert. Nope, the crowd was small and realistic, especially after a rainstorm. A group like this isn't going to get a huge audience just from busking and handing out flyers. That's not how it works.
  • In the end, they performed and lived out their dreams which, again, is the entire moral of the show. Despite imperfect situations, you still give it your all (One For All) and you live out your dreams (Dream).
  • The way they did  get popular made me cackle because it's so damn accurate. Of course, their popularity came from a viral video on stage. It was either going to be that or a reality show but I digress...
  • The part when Suji was in her mascot costume did get me nervous. I went "Oh my gosh, they are really going this route" but then Cut happened and crisis averted.
  • I like the way the show ended overall. This is a positive show. One that is more about dealing with conflicts and heading towards your main goals in life. They learned to work together. They all grew in the process and the ending was positive as it needed to be.

Finally, I have to commend the growth of the acting of every single RGP member. You could tell how much they all improved, including Mint. Suji turned into a stellar actress along the way. She absolutely deserved the main lead and deserves to get more roles in the future.

In the end, I am going to miss the positivism of this show and how happy it made me every week. I really hope RGP continues to promote in the future and I will be rooting hard for them as an idol group and in their individual activities.
