I don't think so. Suah said that the producer and Suji were the only people she ever trusted the most and she told Suji that if she met him she would understand why. I really don't think the two had anything romantic going on and I doubt they're going to do that with Suji. But I do think Suji is going to form a special bond with the producer that's not romantic, and in a way they'll both find a way to heal by being there for each other.

I do have a defense mechanism when it comes to Kdramas and love lines so it's hard not to react to any hints.

At the same time, the PDs have shown that they are willing to take risks and not go the normal kdrama route.

Just the fact that one of the major characters has bulimia is pretty evident of this.

If anyone hasn't watched the drama yet, you don't have to, just watch this and save yourself 7 hours lmao

Well they probably should still watch because:

It doesn't touch on the side stories like getting Jiseul to smile, Taeri's bulimia and downward spiral, the growing conflict between Yeeun/Jiwon, etc so hopefully they can still watch and get caught up on those stories too.

But it did a great job of summarizing the show's major plot points so far.

Honestly the idolm@ster is great at giving out content to the fans but i kinda wish they would put some effort into promoting the drama as well. Luckily more and more people are becoming aware but it is still being overpowered by Idol operation team (mainly due to the well know idols that are in it.) Maybe like another busking event or something to get their name out.

Judging from their recent Facebook posts and this very video, they realize that the Amazon deal is hurting them in terms of exposure and that a lot of new potential fans can't watch the show (the description of the video hints at their awareness).

DOT is an idol variety show (the in-thing for idols right now) on a much more widely accessible network. Even with unknown members, the exposure gap was going to be huge. They kind of operate in two different spheres right now and IM@S could be super popular at the same time

is there a reason why Yeeun is first? i just assumed Suji would be the most popular. also lol @ the cat being 2nd place hurrplz.png

Yeeun is a stan attractor. She gets a lot of cheers when they do fanmeetings because she's so charming and cute.

But the cat is the 11th member of RGP lmao

Episode 9:

  • Finally getting to Jane's backstory which I'm excited about. I have to agree that she was offbase with her thoughts on Dream's lyrics. Her views fit her background but they didn't fit the song. At the same time (as usual), Youngjoo was way too harsh in her response and Jane was exactly right about Youngjoo's intentions.
  • Way too much Suji/P stuff this week. Their interactions are some of the worst parts of the show. I don't mind those two if they are just a part of an episode but not when they dominate the episode.
  • I did love P's interactions with various segments of a music company. Gives a bit of a sneak preview into what producers have to deal with (politics, backstabbing, etc)
  • I personally loved Rookie Team's concept/performance more but I get why the cutesy Debut Team won. This is SK and cutesy girl group concepts are what's in.
  • I'm happy that Mint/Jiseul are totally going to be best friends at the end of the show. Again, they give Mint too many lines. Just let her react (she has great facial expressions).
  • The Taeri downward spiral continues
  • Sori is gonna end up slapping Youngjoo (verbaly or physically) and I can't WAIT
  • Yukika is still the cutest thing on Earth.

Ep 10 Thoughts (Oh my gosh, so much happened):

  • Youngjoo is finally getting her just desserts. Sori is becoming the actual leader of the Debut Team and she was VICIOUS to Youngjoo. GET HER SORI
  • Jane just needed a day off :( I'm glad the team cared about her so much and that they all had fun
  • Jiseul and Mint got so close <3
  • YOU BETTER LEAVE YOUR HANDS OFF OF MINT. LET HER LIVE OUT HER DREAMS THE WAY SHE WANTS TO
  • The English conversation between Mint's TV mom and P was fucking hilarious.
  • WHO. IS. THIS. HUSSY. TAKING. OVER. MINT'S. SPOT? How DARE she?
  • I'm so glad that Youngjoo wasn't forgiven nor did she just become nice in one episode. It's gonna take a while until she turns things around
  • Yukika pretending to stretch was astonishingly cute.

Can't wait for Ep 11!!

Predictions for ep 11:

♫

Youngjoo is totally gonna get caught.

♫

That new girl is probably just going to be filling in for Mint's spot temporarily until she returns just so the Rookie group can still practice as 5 members

OR

♫ T

hey showed the scene of Kang PD looking for her and she was practicing her singing, right? Maybe she'll be their vocal teacher or something idk

♫

We see more of Jiwon and she might be the one to rat out Youngjoo? Like she might post it online anonymously that she met up with her sister and asked her to write the lyrics and show picture proof or some ish like that

♫

Mint standing up to her mom and coming back

♫

Because the Debut team technically cheated on the mission they lose and the win goes to the Rookie team

♫

Suji trying to help/talk to Youngjoo and then her just being a bitch again

Yeah I'm struggling to see how they redeem Youngjoo. Gonna have to work some magic

Ohh character reactions after 10 eps. Will join in since I've been thinking about it anyways (has some spoilers)

  • Youngjoo: One of the most realistic characters in a cast filled with realistic characters. Most people know a Youngjoo or have met a Youngjoo (or is a Youngjoo). She has gotten so wrapped up in her own ambitions that she is willing to use or step on anyone to make it. Jealous, vindictive and quite selfish so far. She will get her comeuppance pretty soon and that will start her redemption story for the rest of the show's run. Curious to see how effective it will be.
  • Suji: I usually don't like the typical K-drama bare faced doe but Suji has a charm to her that makes her really likeable. She's become one of my favorites even though she is clearly the Mary Sue of the show and has to be involved with every single major conflict of the show.
  • Yukika: What I like about her character is that she continues to be the super cute one but she isn't a one note character. She has some of the "all for myself" streak that Youngjoo has but she also clearly wants to be friends with the Rookie Team (she was the first one to really be friendly to the new trainees). I wonder if they'll get into her foreigner roots like they have with Mint.
  • Taeri: She is really cute but I am trying really hard to not get attached since she's leaving. I'm glad that she didn't become this super dark character just because she has bulimia. That would have been too easy but also unrealistic. She is allowed to smile and have fun even when she's got an eating disorder.
  • Jane: Felt for her in Episode 10. It seems like her early attitude and desire to do things her way comes from the fact that she misses her friends and seems to regret becoming an idol at times. She wants to feel like she made the correct decision when she became a trainee. I've warmed up to her.
  • Sori: Quickly becoming one of my faves and is the defacto leader of the Debut Team. LOVE how she smacked Youngjoo down in Episode 10 and is starting to assert herself in order to keep the rest of the team together.
  • Haseo: The queen of facial expressions on the show. Half of the fun with these confrontations is watching Haseo in the background getting great pleasure from them. She is also an underrated voice of calm on the rookie side.
  • Mint: Has gotten MUCH better over time. Mint still is a weak actress but she is really great at facial expressions. She also handles the quiet or sad moments much better than she handles the "I gotta be a rich brat" moments.
  • Jiseul: Love her. As I mentioned before, she is really pretty and I am glad she is able to smile. I love her friendship with Mint. I'm happy that she is finally starting to assimilate with the group and isn't so uptight. I can see her becoming more involved with the group as time goes along
  • Yeeun: The fan favorite and in the running for best character in the show. She is very relateable and very charming. Easy to root for even though you know she has a ton of talent. Her friendship with Suji is a cornerstone of the show and will end up writing the lyrics for Dream. I almost see her as a 3rd lead behind Youngjoo/Suji
  • Jiwon: A mystery. She's either going to wreck havoc or be the cinnamon bun that she is IRL. Either way, she's interesting and I can't wait to see what they do with her

My Top 5:

  1. Yukika
  2. Mint
  3. Yeeun
  4. Jiseul
  5. Suji

But, but... She doesnt seem to be this bad. D: The things she did to Yeeun was bitch move, but tbh up until now she looks like sbd who plays bad person but isnt one.

And btw who is Jeewon in real life since she appeared in the show for few seconds but already almosed topped the poll. She seems to have many fans. Dies she has a group or is she from major company? Im sorry for stupid question but there is too many idols and trainees to keep up with lately.

Was a Source Music trainee that had a chance to debut with Gfriend

I do have to say (and this is non-spoiler) that I had no inclination that this would end up being the one of the most realistic k-dramas I've ever seen but it is. I expected this show to be silly, full of camp and goofiness...and it has plenty of that lmao but I didn't expect so many realistic characters and storylines. I know the anime/games tended to have more realism to them but I kind of expected IMX/Bamco to ignore that for the Korean audience. They didn't and I'm glad.

Ep 11:

  • Glad they resolved the Mint storyline quickly. It accomplished what it needed to (gave Mint a backstory) and would have overstayed its welcome. Love Mint but this should be the extent of her having to carry scenes.
  • The dialogue between Mint's mother and P continued to be cringe-inducing.
  • Not sure if I like the vocal trainer or not. She clearly knows her stuff but she just screams "ulterior motive" like someone who has a crush on P and might get jealous of the Suji/P dynamic in the future...
  • The EP 11 preview was a swerve on the surface but perfect in the long run. Youngjoo wasn't mad that Taeri got praised...but...
  • It's pretty clear that Youngjoo's intentions aren't genuine. She isn't praising Taeri because she genuinely wants Taeri to do well. She praised Taeri because she knows that she will do well when her entire team does well. It felt just as self-serving as everything else she's done so far and she's only doing it because she sees how successful it is for the Rookie Team. The music cues in that scene also back up my thoughts (ominous music was playing the entire time)
  • Taeri also realizes this, hence the eating scene/crying after the fact. She still doesn't feel accepted and she is worried that being praised will cause further rifts in the team. She blames herself for it, clearly.
  • I felt for Taeri while she was crying in the alley. That felt so fucking genuine. Wanted to run over and give her a hug.
  • THAT ENDING SCENE. OH NO. It feels like the scene wants to make it obvious that she just passed out while performing (probably due to malnutrition from the bulimia) but I worry about something else being part of the dynamic. We'll see!

Tbh, this may be a less than popular opinion on Youngjoo rn, though I know a lot of you haven't seen the recent ep, but:

Yes, she encouraged Taeri because the group doing well would benefit her, but this entire issue isn't on her. She looked just as scared and shocked as the others when she was being rushed out on the stretcher. She had/has absolutely no idea what's going on with Taeri and, while that doesn't excuse her behavior, I'm really not liking some of the blaming I've seen ppl do on Twitter and other platforms. EDs are NOT caused by people, they are mental illnesses that people have to deal with and live with for a long time after they develop. Did the pressure of debuting (partially caused by Youngjoo, but also by the survival issue, the pressure Taeri obviously puts on herself etc) add to it? Of course, but it's also in part biology. Not everyone who feels pressure to be thin, regardless of where that pressure comes from, develops an ED. Youngjoo has been a shithead, but the people staight up BLAMING her are pissing me off. Do some research into mental health, god damn.

Anyways, I got really heated abt this and should 100% stay off twitter lmao sorry

You are 100% correct.

The problem is that the storyline, as presented so far, has been quite linear. Unfortunately, it is very easy for people to take a very simple cause and effect opinion based on what was been presented on screen in this episode (and what has been presented on screen at this point). We haven't seen any other causes for Taeri's bulimia outside of indirect/direct responses to what Youngjoo has done or said. Even the flashback for Taeri...was about Youngjoo. Unsurprisingly, this tells the audience that there is an implication that Youngjoo's pressure has at least exasperated Taeri's relapses. Of course, in real life, it's 1000x more complicated than that but people don't necessarily think of the bigger picture when it comes to dramas on TV.

So I would actually put the blame on the PDs for their handling of the story to this point. My concern has been that they wanted to show eating disorders as a common thing that happens to idols (and, from all accounts, it is) so they added Taeri's story for realism but the limited nature of time constraints + a need to continually push Youngjoo as the antagonist + the fact that this will absolutely end up being the start of Youngjoo's redemption is why it's been done so linearly.

The entries talk about all of them being in talks. They will decide if they stay under the brand or not after their second stage in Japan, according to insiders... Their contracts as themselves never existed, I mean Mintty didn't sign up under IMX as Mintty but as RGP's Mintty for example. Although it's true all of them seem to be looking for opportunists out of Idolmaster I strongly believe and hope they choose be part of the brand. If they say yes, they will continue their careers as they please but they will be add to some new unit created by Bandai Namco. Who knows they could be in the next Idolmaster show in Japan~~ /cross fingers

I would love them to join the next Idolmaster group concert in Japan. That'd be huge for their credibility. They could make a LOT more money in Japan.

But contracts and other companies will intervene.

Episode 12:

  • The direction they've been going towards for most of the show is finally starting to kick in: Youngjoo's redemption. She is starting to feel guilt for what's going on with Taeri (because, as I stated with Ep 11, the show has framed Taeri's issues to be partly Youngjoo's fault as she's the main antagonist at this point)
  • The scene with the Debut Team was a very complex conversation. Jane pretty much pointed direct blame at Youngjoo. Sori is playing the mediator and trying to make sure both sides don't blow up. Youngjoo (maybe out of guilt) throws away Sori's attempts at calm. I'm warming up to Jane's character.
  • I didn't expect Taeri to disappear. I fully expected her brother to say "enough is enough" and remove her from the competition. This show continues to throw curveballs
  • I have to watch both full clips of the Dream performances because I honestly wasn't feeling either one. Maybe because I've heard the full final version so many times that it's hard for me to picture any other versions.

Thinking back on the flashbacks between Suah and Suji in past episodes, Suah told Suji that the only other person she trusts besides her sister is Producer Kang. Would that mean that Suah didn't trust or get along with any of her group members at all?

There is definitely more to Suah under the surface that they have yet to get to. Same with P. I'm just curious to as what.

  1. The day that Suah died, where was Suah supposed to go? A sponsor? Is that why P feels so guilty?
  2. Was there a rift between Suah and the rest of Red Queen (maybe due to jealousy since Suah was the most popular member)?
  3. Does P feel like he owes it to Suji to make sure she succeeds because of what he did with Suah (not directly)?

I also wonder if there is a backstory to the owner. Is there a reason why he is so adamant on giving girls chances who may otherwise not get one?

https://www.reddit.com/r/kpop/comments/6ocz5g/real_girls_project_will_make_a_comeback_soon_with/

Real Girls Project will make a comeback after about a year with 5 members.

On July 20th, companies MOLE and IMX opened SNS together and released a teaser image announcing the comeback of Real Girls Project. The image hints at 5 out of the 10 members for this comeback. The members will be revealed one by one before the music is released.

Real Girls Project debuted as a 10-member group last year, based on the Japanese drama The Idolmaster. The Korean drama [email protected] later broadcasted in April 2017 through the channels SBS funE, SBS Plus, SBS MTV, etc domestically and through Amazon Video to over 200 countries. Half of the 24 episodes have aired so far.

Unlike the Real Girls Project subunit B-Side, who released the song 'The Idolmaster' just before the drama started airing, the 5 members for this comeback will promote under the name "Real Girls Project".

Before the comeback, on July 30th Real Girls Project will hold their first domestic fanmeeting and will hold a second live in Japan on August 20th.

Confused. I'd understand if this is the 5 members that aren't part of B-side but why is this being promoted as RGP? That's too confusing unless they are changing the name of the full 10 membered group
