Gosh I wish this series was on another site like Viki or DF. I know the Amazon Prime deal is probably getting them a good chunk of change and it's a nice bragging right as the first k-drama on the service but there is very little exposure for the show and it's not even available in every country (Canada, for example, can't get the show through Amazon Prime Canada)

Even if the show was on a delay (or on Viki Pass), it'd be a better situation overall.

My thoughts on Ep 3:

  • The tension and the conflict of the group. I felt the awkwardness of that performance in front of the bigshots, especially how embarrassed everyone was after it was over.
  • There is no perfect member of the cast. Youngjoo is defiant but clearly has a soft side. Suji is pretty straight forward about not wanting to be an idol but desires the adulation that her sister got. Jane has a massive attitude. Mint is a spoiled rich kid that probably won't play well with roommates (and will probably get really annoying as the season goes on). Plus, you got Jiwon coming in who will definitely be the villain. Even the cute/sweet characters have shown flaws.
  • The dynamics between the rookie and the debut team are realistic as hell. Of course, the debut team is going to look down on the rookie team (and Suji in particular). If I trained my butt off for years and this new group just comes along and threatens my spot, I'd be offended too.
  • Everyone, even the producer, has something at stake with this group. This is the debut team's last chance. The rookie team (outside of Mint) took major risks for joining the company. This makes me want to root for the group to do well

The only negatives I have so far are in regards to Mint. I love Mint but her character is going to be grating unless she shows growth really soon. I'm sure there is a hidden story to her and we'll end up feeling sorry for her eventually but, right now, she's just the typical K-drama rich foreigner.

Other than that, this episode was entertaining to watch and I am looking forward to the dynamics of the dorm.

Would be nice of OP updated 1st post with links to episodes, I'm quite lost about where to watch it...

The only official place to watch it is Amazon Prime Video where it's uploaded every Friday Night at 7pm KST (I think) with English subtitles.

Other than that, the only unofficial videos have been these YT links that get taken down quickly. As far as I know, no other place has subbed the show which sucks for those who either can't afford Prime, don't have access to Prime or doesn't have the show available

Yeseul keeps reminding me of WJSN Dayoung! I can't help it! XD

- Mint's role is so strereotypical it hurts

- I was watching the OT10 perf through my fingers

- That scene with Yeeun and her roommates lmao

- Isn't Mint sharing room with someone?

Yes ep3 is where it really begins! Now I wonder though... How did they choose the members for B-Side?

I was almost tempted to skip that scene because it made me feel SO uncomfortable. It was done really well.

That Yeeun scene was the first real "IDOLMASTER" scene of the show and I LOVED it. Want more. Also, Mint is sharing with Sori.

But Sori said "you're in the room next to ours" I don't think the sub is wrong

It's Jiseul.

I thought it was Sori when I watched it at 5am LMAO but the board says Jiseul. It flashes briefly but it's there.

The room pairings are:

Youngjoo + Suji

Yukika + Jane + Taeri + Yeeun

Haseo + Sori

Mint + Jiseul

Maybe Suji will fall for the producer but he puts up a wall as hard as he can since she's very similar to Sua. Or the producer's plan was to replace Sua with Suji all along cos he still can't get over her.

How can she not do Bo Peep though? xD

I would have fainted.

Clip MV for 'Memories' (title track of their new OST release) just uploaded

Edit: DAMN YOU GVK

HOT DAMN JEEWON'S VOCALS

Edit: Have some lyrics to Lost in the Summer (the fully english b-side track by Jane and (surprise!) Heo Joungjoo). It sounds amazing; listen to a preview on the Melon page and another one here.

Jiwon's vocals are insanely good.

Okay, for those interested...  back stage videos...

I LOVE this.

So much skinship. So much

Yeeun and Suji seem really close

Yeeun is the happy virus, no doubt.

Jiwon is the villain in the show but pretty much a sweet cinnamon bun irl.

Need more

Ep 4:

I like the progression of the story so far. Yeeun and Suji are getting close (since they both feel like outcasts). Youngjoo is a realistic character, almost to a fault. She's intensely unlikable because of her attitude but you can also tell that there is a warm side to her. At the same time (end of ep 4), she's gonna get super jealous of Suji. We'll see if that leads to conflict (it will).

The first mission seems like it'd be easy for the Dance Team but you can tell that there are cracks in their chemistry that are ready to break. With the Rookie Team, they are clearly individualistic but I bet you they figured things out before the demo.

I know the group keeps asking Suji why she decided to show up but I am starting to wonder the same about Jiseul. Why, exactly, is she there? I know she's super individualistic but WOW. I'm sure there is more to the story as to why she's like that.

I suspect they'll start to get really close and then Jiwon will come along and throw a monkey wrench into everything. I'm ready to see that mess.

Also, they are teasing a loveline between the PD and Suji and I don't like it. This show doesn't necessarily need romance just for the sake of romance.

Episode 4

- Suji's ability to cry on demand is a wonder to behold.

- Now we know where Yeeun x Suji IRL came from, and i LOVEZ ITZ. YeJi <3

- Why did i find Ice Cream Seo so hilarious?

- I want more Den Mother Sori, please! Total scene-stealer QRLGYBO.png

- Jiseul's character is turning out to be as mysterious and standout as Jeewon's. I can't wait to see more of her story.

- Suji-ah, why must you be so opaque! Youngjoo loves your sister and is (deep deep down) actually trying to help you, you just need to open up to her more! Youngjoo x Suji shippers holla at me

The "Acting That Deserves A Bonsang" list, episode 4:

- Suji being bad at dancing

- Jiseul being a bad-tempered recluse

- Yeeun being shy

- Suji x Jane (or maybe not? lol)

Btw anyone noticed they don't use polite language with each other at all? Regardless of age or rank, and even when apologizing. It's lowkey disorienting. Or is that just the way it is in k-drama? (cos i've only watched k-drama dubbed in chinese before)

And i think i'll draw up a relative age chart when i have time. Their characters don't seem to match their real ages exactly...

Agree with this 100% unsure.png

We already know Suji and Jane are gonna be best friends at the end of the show simply because some of  the Ark fans still hanging on are practically begging for it (since it's the only two members they pay attention to but I digress)

Ah, character opinions! I should summarize mine too after 1/6 of the season:

- Youngjoo: As I've mentioned before, intensely unlikable right now but you can understand why. She's super bitter about still being a trainee after Nayoung moved on to Red Queen. She not only has more trainees to compete with but she's stunned by how she is on even standing with these newbies, considering how hard she's trained to get where she is. It does feels like there are active trainees right now that would watch the show and instantly identify with her. No question she'll end up being nicer in the end.

- Suji: Really charming. She, sadly, is kind of a typical K-drama female lead: not talented in what she's doing (the other archtype is a bumbling supergenius), innocent, sweet, gorgeous, determined, and very reserved. I do like the marathon aspect of her character as it parlays to her never-give-up attitude. I just want her to eventually fight back against the trainees (mainly, Youngjoo) who keep pushing her around. Then I'll root for her more.

Sori: The mother hen. I love her speech at the end of Episode 4 when both sides were starting to break apart. She's always been the Debut Team member that has been most responsive (or least hostile) to the new members. I consider the backbone of the group even though Youngjoo is the leader.

Jiseul: Walking the line between intriguing and annoying. I want to know why she's so standoffish and harsh to literally everyone in existence. At the same time, I still have to wonder if she (the character) realized that she wouldn't just be training by herself? I also think that this type of trainee is also pretty commonplace and I'm supposed to be annoyed by it.

Yukika: Cute. Adorable. Funny. Cute. Also, cute. She is impossible to dislike even though she acts just as snobbish towards the Rookie Team as Jane does. You want to dislike her and then she smiles and it's like..."I forgive you, Kika". A bit one-note for now but an enjoyable one note.

Jane: This is frustrating because I adore Jane, the RGP member IRL but her character is overly aggressive and hostile. It's past attitude at this point. Let's see if Yeeun's happy virus affects her immune system.

Taeri: Not too much to her right now. Super cute and likable but she's somewhat of a side character right now, sadly. I'm sure we'll learn more as time goes on.

Yeeun: My pick for the dark horse of the show. She is also an outcast like Suji (hence why they bonded in EP4). You already know she has immense vocal talent from RGP so her skills are a bit of a hidden card in the show. Has the same types of underdog, "you want to root for her" vibes that Suji has but in a different way. I am excited to see her storyline tbh.

Mint: The most one-note character in the show so far. I really hope it doesn't stay that way. There is SO much you can do with the "rich girl out of her element" character in this type of setting. Force her to have to adjust. Show her lifestyles and living conditions that she may not have ever experienced. There is so much character growth potential for her and I hope the show gets at it a little.

Haseo: Don't have a feel of her character yet and she kind of doesn't exist too much yet? We'll see if she gets fleshed out at all

Jiwon: 404 Page Not Found

So far I have to say that this drama is surprisingly exceeding my expectations. I like how it shows the real stuff that goes down behind the scenes. But does anyone know how this drama is doing in Korea?

I can't imagine it's doing all that well but the expectations were low since it's on SBS's cable channels. The good thing? It runs until October so it has a chance to pick up an audience at some point, even if it's international.

Is OH behaving really weirdly and slow for anyone else? "My Content" list is completely empty right now.

I didn't really like Super Girl Magic, it's just not my style of music. GIVE US ACACIA MV IMX!!!

The OP is another 404. imstupid.png

It's having a lot of fun right now...

I am curious as to where the official ACACIA is

I've got a question. Are the characters in the show based off characters in the RPG?

Very loosely.

There are only two leads instead of three. There is a cute (creepy/psychotic to some) character but she really isn't the lead. Others that are more well-versed with IM@$ can confirm how close some characters are to the original series.
