Tbh I wonder, they haven't shown her yet

Btw about Taeri (Warning: this is a speculation, but it could be a spoiler too)

What if she ends up getting cut on the show? Omg that would be so sad warstarplz.png

I have a feeling that this show is going to be different than most idol shows. We may have some outright villains (they described Haseo as a two-faced rapper, for one) and they wont be afraid to make decisions like that.

I am really excited to see where they go. I am impressed by how professional and organized the promotions have been. I just wish they had more traction in Korea. I actually think they are gaining more traction in Japan right now.

Lookin' good!

After finally seeing the Red Queen video for "ACACIA" that was posted by a Japanese fan using his phone, I'm think the show is being marketed way more to Japanese audiences. It's a Japanese franchise so it makes sense, but it doesn't seem like they're really pushing that hard for the Korean audience. I wonder if that was the plan from the beginning. I worry that we won't even get English subtitles for it.

For anyone who hasn't seen it (Thanks go to GuguSana for bringing it to our attention):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eYW5baUO9A

Yeah we aren't getting official subtitles if that's the case

To be honest, I don't blame them for the Japanese market focus. More money, a brand that is well known in that market, multiple Japanese speakers, a Japanese member, etc.

I wonder how much they have with these cast members. I'm curious to see if 1. They'll stick with IDOLMASTER after the show and 2. Which members would stick around if the concept continues, especially if they'd make more money.

The promotions, especially in SK, could be more expansive...

But I have to say that pretty much all of the official videos and docu-series on the girls have been super high quality and in-depth. For example,

Just released yesterday. If I was a new or prospective fan, I now know every member, what their role is, what their thoughts are and a lot about their personalities, both on the drama and as an idol. I know it's the VCR that they showed at the first Japan stage but it's better than what 95% of all KPOP groups get for introducing members.

Some songs were reveled in their concert, and they are actually pretty good. My favourite so far is Wanna Be a Star (Haseo and Jane), the rap really adds something amaizing and Haseo really got her spotlight.

PingPong Game! - Sori, Yeeun, Jiwon, Yukika

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJqeWT2_Few

Let's Get Started - Sori, Yeeun, Jiwon, Jane, Suji

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsG1r4L8F9s

Memories - Yeeun, Jiwon, Suji

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ywCRWL8gJc

Wanna Be a Star - Jane, Haseo

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEygREOuGNk&t=191s

Youngjoo sang Only Human but there's no audio.

Also here is ACACIA  better quality video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=394e159oiZY

The reason Suji is on Red Queen was because she supposed to be part of this group at first but Kaeun joined later so Suji was move as part of the Real Girls Project. Wich I think was a great choice. I want to make clear ACACIA was never reveled because of Kaeun and Suji thing, japanese fans have it because Music Episode Type B have the MV's.

In the other hand I can see Mintty and Jiseul didn't got any song here, well Jiseul got B-side's The Idolmaster but that's all. Mintty's vocal skills seem to not be ready (I'm just guessing). Jiwon, Yeeun and Sori got to participate in much more songs it seems.

I'm not surprised at all with Mint considering that she's hidden quite a bit. She's the main dancer so she doesn't really have to be a featured vocalist. I am more surprised that Jiseul didn't get more lines considering she's one of the main vocalists.

I also agree that Suji makes more sense in the main group.

Well by the concert intro video, Suji for clumsy protagonist.

I am watching this and just going, okay Mint is like Hibiki, Jiseul sounds like Chihaya, Jiwon maybe Miki...?

Probably the thoughts going through many of the Japan Producer's heads as they watch it as well.

Itd be cool if each member could be matched with the IDOLMASTER equivalent based on that video

same,Acacia is really ear-catching song, i already loop it several time today

k, let's play the assumption game, but rather than equivalent,as Akaya said, they will get same stereotype but it will be depending how their take of the stereotype

Youngjoo - Obviously she is Mio,with her serious bar raised to max level, both is the leader of debut team

Jiseul - i think Jiseul will be closer to have Shiburin character, quite cold outside, but warm inside

Suji - GANBARIMAS, her character description is really similar take to Shimamura Uzuki,an average second placer girl but with the most unyielding will

Mint - i think she will have the stereotype from hibiki and anya mixed together, but with more boke-stereotype

Sori - obviously she will get the stereotype of minami

not finding other members comparison yet, i think Jiwon will be kind of 'devious' bad as kaede but need to see her instagram caption first

NOTES: will add later if i feel i already found the stereotype in their anime counterpart

Thanks!!

I don't think there will be complete 1:1 comparisons but it will be fun to see how the characters progress as we get close to the first episode and as the drama starts.

I have to say I hope the drama does good. People did not have hopes in this at the beginning, but it looks way better thatn I though. Of course the fact tha three companies took part really helped. The drama looks so good and for the first time the main subject will be the friendship rather than romance.

Sunghoon attracted many girls, btw lol.

I completely agree. The trailer gave me a lot of confidence in the show going forward. It looks like a good show.

I have a feeling it will. The players involved seem to be finally pushing the show and there are still 11 days left until it premieres so I am hopeful that there will be some buzz

A few things I found over the weekend. Someone put the B-Side performance and Idolm@aster side by side (can't remember if someone started a thread for this):

I think a thread may have been made for this, but it hasn't been posted here yet.

This was already part of the press event, but they uploaded an official version. It contains spoilers so watch at your own risk. Almost wish I hadn't watched it, but it got me more pumped for the premiere.

I can't believe they're incorporating a survival element into the show. I hope it's just a swerve and turns out to be some kind of strategy by the Producer to get the girls to bond more.

I think it's just a swerve.

The fact that a amazon prime membership is 99$ a month and I dont shop on amazon all the time either makes me sad I can't support the girls ;__; I want watch the legal way....

Sent from my LG-H811 using OneHallyu mobile app

There is an 11/month monthly subscription too. That's what I do (idk if that's available worldwide or not)

Technically it's not wrong but because that phrase is always associated to evil roles, it sounds wrong.

--------------------------------------

The negativity is probably coming from purists. Since idolmaster has quite a big following and they don't want something that stays from the norm. They should just think of it as canon. lol

Yeah it's the purists. A lot of resistance to IDOLMASTER because it's not their waifus and, you know, actual real people. The other real life versions got similar push back. It's to be expected.

I'm still low key sad that Haseo, Jiseul, Yeeun and Mint haven't spoke more than one sentence, Jiseul and Mint literally spoke three words... And Jeewon hasn't even appeared.

I hope the drama doesn't stuck in too many memories of the girls and too much chatting.

Also as a Jane biased I'm happy that she's getting a lot lines, lol. Her character it's kind of the strong/rude.

Its only their debut episode and the show is on for a loooong time. Give it a chance lol

I caved in and got the basic Amazon Prime subscription because I really want to watch the show and don't feel like hunting all over the place for episodes. You can get the Streaming/Video only sub for about $8.95 a month.

My thoughts on Ep. 1:

I enjoyed it for the most part, but it felt a little rough and disjointed to me (I don't watch many KDramas so maybe this is normal and I just need to get used to it). Almost right off the bat, Nakyung is debuting with Red Queen and the Trainee's company shuts down (I almost felt like I was watching episode 2). I would have liked to see them spend some time showing the relationship between Nakyung and the other girls so when she does go behind their back, the betrayal has even more impact.

I also would have liked to see the Creepy Cat Guy pop up throughout the episode so we get to know him more. Then the reveal that he bought the Trainees company is a bigger payoff. He just kind of shows up on the bus and then, in the next scene, he's bought the company.

I don't mean to sound too critical, I just think they left out some small details that would have enhanced the show. The cast did a great job and I like the look of the show so far. I'm really intrigued by Suji and Red Queen are suitable imposing. Youngjoo's a little too intense for me. I expect she'll soften over the course of the show. The actor playing the Producer seems well suited for the role. I'm looking forward to how he interacts with everyone.

That's normal K-drama, especially in the first episode.

In fact, it's normal K-drama beats is the comforting thing about this show. It feels like something I'd be watching on SBS or MBC proper

i wasn't saying anything wrong. I mean, it makes me sad (more like anxious) because I really want to see more of all them. I'm super excited for it, I wasn't being critical. These two episodes were really... pretty? Like heartwarming. I like that, but too much chatting and too many memories scenes for me, just that. I'm sure watching, I already liked it.

Understood. Seems like there are dark times ahead doesn't it

One thing I do like: the trailers have mostly been the first two episodes. We don't know a lot about the rest of the show so who knows what direction the story will go. It's exciting

so it wasn't just meimstupid.png I knew it was different but didn't check back

I see. Maybe it works there but not here where lots of people don't speak english.

She's just one of those cliche K-drama foreigner characters that speak English just to emphasize that they are not Korean.
