So I have a friend..

Recommended Posts

that I met at uni last year. she's really cool and we both had kpop in common so we hang out a lot.

i've noticed she's extremely self conscious. she stans taeyeon and tells me everyday that she wishes she looked like her, or was petite like her or cute like her. she tells me she wishes she had hair like her and fair skin like her. she wishes she was feminine like her and it honestly confuses me cause she's so pretty herself?? how do i make this girl realise how beautiful she is and how she doesn't need to look like anyone else?

thanks x

theres obviously something more. might be a mental issue if she is like that. and simply complimenting them doesn't work. thats how people develop addictions to plastic surgery or body building. there are alot of people like this and its definitely a mental health issue

i dont think so. she was bullied at school and i think thats where it stems from.

I have a friend like that too. Thinks she's fat and ugly, and no matter how many people tell her she's not she still feels the same.

I honestly don't understand it. I guess because she prob sees taeyeon as an overall beautiful or the closest to what she sees as perfectly beautiful and she herself doesn't look like that she sees herself as ugly. Tell her she's beautiful.

You can't. It's something internal that she has to work out. I know because I do the same thing too. My BF tells me all the time that I look great, but there's something in my head that keeps telling me otherwise. I really wish I could just shut it off, but I couldn't. I really don't think this is something a compliment can fix. If this persists, I think therapy would be great! And I might just do the same too.

Show her a mirror, then a picture of someone with deformities. She should get the message then.

I don't mean to sound blunt, but I dislike when people who are healthy, obsess over pointless things like that.
