Day6 and Music shows

I know there's been lots of discussion and debates over the way JYPE promotes Day6, especially when it comes to music shows. In recent interviews, the boys gave their opinions on appearing in music shows

From The Bling Magazine (translation by Egle0702)

Actually, since you are a JYPE band, I had a stereotype that you would focus mostly on TV appearances.
Band is about “live.†We think that people can feel the actual band energy at a live performance. Of course, we also think that TV appearance is important. However, it’s inconvenient without the environment where you can play live. We are always ready, so please call us whenever wherever.

Now obviously, they acknowledge that music shows can be a great way to gain exposure, but they also express that they seem to prefer the other types of performances over music shows.

That said, my question is do you think that they will continue promoting on music shows in the future? And if they do, do you think that it will be for short amounts of time or for the full promotion period?

I'm curious to hear your guy's thoughts on this.

Edit: I realized that I had the wrong screencap so I have replaced it with the correct one. Sorry for the confusion

It's painful to see them not as lively as their busking

I don't know if they instrument-sync or lip-sync in music show

but indeed it's a good move to put them in exposure to international fans

I don't know if music show exposure help them to gain k-fans indeed

as long as they are still doing busking and held live shows

I have no complain

TBH, they looked much happier when busking than they did on Music show's... I guess what they did this time was OK but I really prefer the busking, I do think they should utilize V app more often with doing songs live.

Yeah, I think potentially having some sort of weekly performance on V app or even Youtube could help expand them a bit more. Or at the very least, keep fans from being deprived of Day6 XD

I think their vocals were live but for most if not all of the shows they had to hand sync. I could be wrong though. I think word of mouth and some type of exposure, whether it be tv or radio or street performances can be useful to them.

How about expand the location for busking, they can go to the orther city around Korean and hold a busking, i think it will be awesome

Yeah expanding locations could definitely help as well. People could see them performing in different malls or different streets and take interest in them.

this honestly

fans kept complaining and complaining when they debuted. as someone who stan FTISLAND before DAY6, JYP decision made a lot of sense. FTISLAND been dragged so much and their company doesn't give a shit. it's also the reason why Japanese market is as important as SK.
music shows killed the vibe of groups for not being able to play live and their status as real groups. many people still think band groups made of idols are a joke and can't play instruments. why do you think Wonder Girls played along with it and danced with their instruments? because there is no point. music shows give exposure for promotion and seeing their fans, that's it. when you love music, your instrument, pretending is just horrible.

people need to understand music shows are the reason why bands can't play live. it's "too much" work and it concerns only a few groups, so why bother?

i think, what jyp is doing right now (1 week music shows, the rest busking and live shows) is what is gonna happen in future too

FNC is considered the young sister company of Big3, and sometimes mentioned as staying higher than JYPent, even tho FNC was not able to make N.Flying relevant among the public.

And it's not lack of promos, cause N.flying had their own a variety show and they went to popular variety shows as Happy Together, Running Man and Weekly Idol on their Korean debut year, and they also had a Japanese debut 2 years before their Korean debut. Even tho, N.Flying is struggling to be in the game. It's not their fault, bc the boys are amazing and talented, but the fact that Korean young generation is not into bands, they more biased to hip hop groups.

Day6 is not easily to be promoted as a group. I belive they'll have a change if JYP can make them being liked by the general public or for people on their 20s. I don't seem them becoming popular with teens.

I was talking with my sis about promos strategies of new groups in my country, and I think the conclusion of the discussion is the same as for Kpop. Having a lack of programs to promote new groups, the best way to reach popularity is "becoming a trend btw teens" or having their songs played on radio and their names out on media.

Instead of focusing in musis shows, JYP need to get them an OSTs of a popular drama.  Busking is a word of mouth marketing.

At first, I feel happy to see them in music show stages.....but when I saw their uncomfortable aura in their stage performances and their carefree and happy face in busking, I prefer them to do busking and what a "band" activities are rather than in music shows (but I'm still not complaining about their Music Show appearance, it can also help them promote their music.).
