How apple cider vinegar has worked miracles for my skin

X-post from my tumblr:

Okay let’s set the scene - I don’t have awful skin. It’s pretty balanced, rarely overly dry and rarely overly oily, I don’t get REALLY BAD pimples, but I do scar easy (real easy) in that, when I do get a pimple (there’s usually at least 3 on my face at any given time) it will remain on my face as a red dot for up to a month after it’s no longer really a pimple.

My skincare regime isn’t super harsh - I use the Kalamazoo Beard and Facial Wash from Lush, which I wholeheartedly recommend to all men and women (they only put the word â€˜beard’ on there so they could put it in the men’s section) because, unlike most facial washes, it’s not soapy - it’s more creamy, and it doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry or stretched. I also sometimes do honey masks (honey is a skin miracle - try it) and exfoliate very occasionally with either fresh coffee grounds or brown sugar.

Now, I had tried apple cider vinegar once in the past, but contrary to the recommendations, I didn’t dilute it with water - as such, it burned like a bitch and turned me red. Needless to say, I didn’t try it again for a long time. Last week, however, with school photos looming, I was doing everything I could to try and make my skin look acceptable, and I decided to try it again, and I’m so glad I did. I put it on right before bed (DILUTED this time - 1 part vinegar 1 part water), and when I woke up I could already see the difference. Those invasive red spots had faded (not fully, but enough that I noticed it), AND, to my great surprise, my sebaceous filaments, which have been a long-time grievance of mine, were far less obvious that usual. This converted me immediately to an apple cider vinegar adherent; I have been using it day and night for about a week now and my skin is better than ever.

This is especially great for us men who can’t wear concealer or foundation or any other variety of that magic skin paste that makes all the girls look flawless. I really hope that it will continue to help my skin the long term too. One piece of cautionary advice I will give, though, is not to put it on your skin right before you walk out the door, as it tends to make you a tiny bit red for a few minutes (it calms down pretty quickly), and turning up to school with a violently red face isn’t really fun.

If I turned up at school wearing makeup I would never hear the end of it.

I have no idea how to apply makeup, I would look like Donald Trump with a glossy finish.

Then learn. It's not like girls are born with the capacity to wear makeup.
