Respect in K-pop fandoms

Wonder.

So I saw this thread on twitter and I decided that all yall NEED to see this

You can go on twitter and see it but i'll just type it out for the people who dont like loading (also im bored n wanna highlight some points)

"Since apparently, some of y'all didnt learn this in kindergarten, i'm gonna share the secret to life to you

I dont care if you dont like a particular person in the group, the group itself, dont stan, dont think they are talented, whatever.. You are entitled to your own opinion and that is completely okay! Disrespect is not okay though and I (the person) have seen countless occurrences of it. Never call a group untalented, flops, overrated, any of that bs, all of them work very hard equally and go through so much to debut. Before debuting, many trainees go through tough survival shows, countless hours of dance practices, vocal lessons, all sorts of stuff. Like i dont think half of you guys know the struggles and sacrifices these people make.

The emotional and psychological pain that trainees go through is actually heartbreaking, like I dont think half of you guys know the struggles and sacrifices these people make.

They dedicate so much time and hard work

Oh! but i forgot, their fame was just handed to them right?

Im legit tired of seeing fanwars and people getting salty and arguing over groups saying that they're* flops or that they dont deserve success

Everyone in the k-pop industry has worked their butts off from BigBang to "freaking" Seventeen. They all deserve respect because they are human. And I think everyone is entitled to that, they have all been through so much and half of yall get so salty if they arent your faves. Oh my bias group is better!! and your bias group sucks, they gonna flop!! like i swear some of you are actually five sometimes

Yall think this is acceptable?

Some of you guys go to the extreme over the littlest things! Imagine how you would feel if someone was sending you bomb threats! And not only that, but those type of threats over voting, VOTING, like I dont understand why you would make such a big deal over voting.

iKON got death threats literally over a color, a freaking color

Jungkook said "lets love" on stage and EXO fans went ballistic and sent him death threats

and Okay, we all have our own opinions on Rapmon's colorist comment but this is absolutely disgusting

Death threats are not a joke. Death threats are not funny. Never are they acceptable!

Firstly, you guys really need to respect the artists in the k-pop industry they go through too much to have yall acting a fool but tbh this doesnt even just limit the kpop music scene, this goes for everyone can you all just please act like you have some sense?

And worst part is, not only do some of you not respect the artists, you guys dont even respect each other! Some fans get so overprotective over their faves and if another person isnt fond of them, its literally the end of the world for you

Not everyone is going to be particularly fond of your fave group and guess what? Thats okay, we all have different tastes, but dont go around stirring trouble with others, making fun of them for liking certain groups and starting stupid fanwars over PETTY stuff (looking at yall trolls)

and you can read the rest (which is a little bit more about kpop fans n a summary) @ the link above or her twitter (@tatiturtlee)

I'm never gonna call anyone a flop again!

I never thought the 'flop' statement is that deep though. I mean I join in convos about it because I live for the drama. I just think the word flop has no definition if you know your faves aren't really flops lol... Surprised that others' flop is different from my flop  :omg:

there's a fine line between critique, a little shade, and being downright filthy. people (especially here on OH, or on Twitter and Tumblr) seem to like to do a lit of the latter because it gets them attention and followers, which is so pitiful. You can dislike someone and atill respect someone. You can dislike someone and still have respect for the work they put into their craft. Unfortunately some of these people can't get that through their heads.

There is also this inability to see idols as people that is rampant throughout the fandom. If "fans" could see these idols (and their fellow stans) as people they would not be telling them to die, calling them rats, etc.

If I don't like a group or idol, rather than bash them, I try to find the good things about that group or idol.

Bashing or hating a group or idol just takes so much negative energy out of you. It just makes you feel bad in the end. I'd rather find something good about the things I dislike because it makes me and the stans more peaceful and happy.

Beautiful post! If I weren't on mobile I would upvote!
