Conor McGregor has decided to retire via Twitter, and is no longer headlining UFC 200 with Nate Diaz:

I'm still freaking out over this, not only because Conor McGregor might be retiring, but also because UFC 200 is such a huge event; I can't help but to think who's going to be big enough to carry the headline. Poor Dana White, dealing with so much chaos lately (From Daniel Cormier dropping out due to injury, to Lyoto Machida's drug use, and injuries after injuries in all recent UFC events)

I'm a huge fan of UFC, and I still haven't seen a thread in the sports section lately. Anyone else into UFC? Who do  you think is going to headline 200? A small part of me thinks it's going to be Rousey vs. Cyborg (especially since Cyborg is debuting in UFC soon.) What do you guys think?

McGregor is a coward, he is still young at least did a rematch with Aldo before retiring.

He is like a male version of Ronda Rousey, overrated and overhype.

He knows that Aldo will kick his ass in rematch, that's why he chose to retire young while still at the peak of his fame.

Robbie Lawler vs Stephen Thompson for the Welterweight would be an AMAZING fight!

Love Stephen, I think he is the most dynamic and exciting fighter with the best striking and great dodging.

are u a ufc bandwagoner fan?

i would do jon jones vs rumble/dc if jones win on sat

Not a bandwagon fan. I like Rousey since she beat Miesha back in Strikeforce, then I fell in love with her in The Ultimate Fighter. I know she kinda became the villain since TUF, but TUF actually made me like her more.

Also one of my favorites is Khabib Nurmegomedov, who supposedly is virtually unheard of by casual fans, so I don't think so.

Tbh, I like the lineup for UFC 199 waaaay more. Urijah vs Cruz makes for a better story than Diaz vs McGregor, just because I want Urijah to win, so he can fight TJ, then it will be the mentor vs the kid. :ahmagah:

the retirement seems like a cop-out from mcgregor .. and when the news about cormier not going to be able to join the card to face jon jones. Lost interest on the upcoming ppv.

Oh I agree. There's no way in hell McGregor can beat Diaz on the ground. He probably earned enough money, and decide to just quit before humiliating himself. People also said that McGregor was there when Joao Carvalho died, so it kinda shook him.

But yea, that's why I felt bad for Dana White. I was looking forward to so many fights (Dos Anjos vs McGregor, Nurmegomedov vs Ferguson, Jones vs DC 2, even McGregor vs Diaz 2 - just because I'm a Diaz fan and it's satisfying to see all the bandwagon McGregor fans get disappointed), and they all fell through. Nothing better happen at UFC 199, I'm dying for those fights...
