Why is EXO the only group SM...

lets do drama version MVs? As far as I can tell TVXQ and SuJu have had only 1 drama mv whereas EXO have already been given 2, and did some sort of mini-drama for their MMA stage.

 

Are they trying to give them a different image than their other groups? Or is it to create more hype? Why haven't f(x) or SNSD done any, when they have actresses in their groups?

Remember EXO's long debut campaign and their Tree of Life (lol)? It's always been a way of how SM promotes EXO.

 

It's also pretty obvious that SM's trying hard to promote EXO to become their top-earners.

Idk, but I don't think fandoms of the other groups would ever complain about them not getting the drama versions like EXO bc that shit was horribly done and embarrassing to watch. SM should either put in some real effort if they want to do a drama version or not do it at all bc I don't think it did them any favors.

When it comes to EXO-related topics, your posts are consistently ones that I can never disagree with.

 

 

The intention of the drama version was clearly to make EXO stand-out in the Korean and Chinese scene. Though the amount of teasers alone for debut was enough to do the trick, the debut itself was short in those countries as a lot of focus was on abroad primarily to expand the fandbase. SM has no patience and wants the quick-route to success. To me, I think reversing it the other way round would have been better. I still look back at Tao's teasers and think "this is silver-screen material". All that build-up should have been worthwhile.

In terms of the quality of the "Wolf" drama MV, it was below the average standard of what you expect from SM. The production was loose and the boys didn't have reasonable acting skills so there was a strong impression of it all being rushed. On paper, it was smart to have other songs on the album on there and a drama would definitely make it more engaging with the audience, but the overall visual presentation was disappointing.

i think one of SMs ways of promoting EXO so far has been putting more emphasis on concept, and the drama MVs are part of that as they add to the concept by making a story with it

They think they can be successful with their drama videos just because they now have SM C&C + partnership with some other entertainment company in that field. But they still suck.

let's be all honest here. SM sucks with drama versions. The twilight thing made me cringe and the exo drama version was ... meh. i just liked the fighting scene. EXO isn't even that good at acting yet. So far the only member that i think is good is xiumin

I have to add that I think they're focusing too much on certain members for these drama versions and if they think that it's more effective to only focus on specific members, they should have made some different choices bc some of the "acting" was quite bad and there are some members that could have been maybe a little less green when it comes to acting had they been given the spotlight.

You know I think they actually are. When SM is the same company that made TVXQ's Before U Go drama music video, I think they know the right director to go to for a great music video, yet they keep giving EXO these embarrassing and cheesy storylines. 

 

I think it's to make EXO seem like...adorable? In a hot mess kind of way. I mean during the MMA I was literally cringing the whole time, but still thought they all looked adorable and was laughing at how bad it was. Maybe that's what SM wants.
