Xiaoshu 175 Posted April 20, 2016 Share Posted April 20, 2016 Zhou Xun, Eddie Peng and Wallace Huo starred in Award winning director Ann Hui's new film THE GREAT ESCAPE. Produced by Bona Film Group and Class Limited, the film is shooting in Guangdong and Hong Kong. Roger Lee is on board as producer and the cast also includes Guo Tao (White Deer Plain). The story follows a group of plucky youths fighting for Hong Kong’s freedom when Japanese forces occupied the city during the Second World War. Zhou Xun and Wallace Huo played a couple for the first time. In the film they gave up their romance due to war. Wallace Huo played a intellectual youth. He expressed on numerous occasions that director Ann Hui was his idol, finally he got his wish of working with her on a movie. Ann Hui praised Wallace Huo as a hard working and serious actor. Not only his appearance was outstanding but he also had "talent within". His restraint, light aura was very suitable for the character. Eddie Peng played a legendary hero "sharpshooter" Liu Heizai. For his character he got a darker tan and seriously studied the stronger inner world of that chaotic era. He was very emotional about being able to work with Ann Hui and looked forward to being able to stimulate even more of his potential. Ann Hui pointed out that Peng Yu-Yan was an all purpose actor who was able to play a sunny idol and an evil villain. I think that's why Ann Hui selected Wallac Huo as the male lead. This movie is supposed to be an outstanding Chinese language film. Surely, director take seriously on actor's performance. Can somebody answer me pls... TJOF & LMIYD last year are so popular. So I'm sure Wallac Huo > Eddie Peng. But Eddie Peng only focus on movies in recent year & he has maybe 5-6 movies release this year (some are blockbusters). Wallac just focus on movie this last 2 year. Anyway, he has 3 movies release this year (but not a big hit). Yes, Wallac play the male lead. But I heard this movie focus much on the life of the character who played by Zhou Xun.
