toshi 1,466
Guys anyone here know much about Macros? I've been reading lots of different articles which state you need to get so much Protein/Fats/Carbs each day and since I want to lose fat, cut my calories down. I've also read as well that as long as you cut your calories to a certain amount, for example If I eat 2000 calories a day now, if I was to reduce that too say 2000 and exercise so I burn more calories than I consume I will lose fat. So my question is: I've been researching some diet options and Greek Yogurt seems to be the best option for a snack since its low in calories and has a high Protein content. I've just found two different yogurts my supermarket sell and I'm just wondering what would be the best option because If I had greek yogurt which comes at 62calories per 100gram I would add fruit to it which would then take it over 100calories per serving, where as if I eat the flavoured yogurt which comes at 79calories per 100gram, I would only be eating that so I would only consume 79calories which would be less but not as nutritious. Greek Yoghurt: Calories - 62 Protein - 5.7 Carbs - 9.5 Sugar in Carbs - 9.5 Fat - 0.1 Which Saturates - 0.1 Onken Fat Free Strawberry Yoghurt Calories - 79 Protein - 4.5 Carbs - 13.4 Sugar in Carbs - 12.8 Fat - 0.1 Which Saturates - 0.
abra 40,910
The calory count is arguably the most important but you should try to cut down on sugar as much as possible too. It's the worst form of energy. Fat >>>>>> Sugar Sugar will make you hungry, fat makes you full.
Laylife 920
Get the greek yogurt. The nonfat has more sugar in it which can spike up your insulin.

If the calorie count is arguably the most important (although I know sugar is bad) why would I choose the Greek yogurt option, as there is like 3 grams difference in sugar. Get the greek yogurt. The nonfat has more sugar in it which can spike up your insulin. Explain insulin please. greek yogurt over the regular one always Explain why please? I know that cutting sugar down is really important, but at the same time if less calories are consumed isn't this better? Or is it worse because I want to lose fat rather than just weight. Paulister 757
Did somebody sayyy... greek yoghurt!! Get that impact Greece! As a Greek, I can only tell you that if you can survive the strong chessy-milky flavour, greek yoghurt is the way to go. Don't ask me why, I'm not too familiar with dietary advice, I just know that iz gud 4 u!!

It will also lead to more food/sugar cravings so you'll end up eating more. Diabetes, obesity, heart attacks etc are all largely caused by sugar consumption. its not all about calories its like saying a diet coke is better then a fresh fruit smoothie because it has zero calories It could be because some fruit smoothies/juices are very unhealthy in large doses due to how much sugar is in them. It's a lot worse than actually eating the fruit.
Milenchy 1,011
You need to cut your carbs down to the minimum if you want to lose wight. Since the body uses carbs or fat for energy, when you stop giving it carbs, it starts using all the fat = losing a shitton of weight. You need to do cardio as well though. Basically that means stop eating any kinds of wheat products + sugar (fruit also have a lot of sugar so just eat 1 a day). Eat everything else. toshi 1,466
Thanks for the replies guys! Obviously Greek Yogurt has won! Also while I'm here, any ideas for snacks? I'm eating like 3 meals a day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. I have 2 protein shakes a day and I'm trying to eat 6 times a day so a snack mainly for nightime would be great! By the way, just so you know I don't have that much fat too lose as I go the gym regularly, I'm just trying to get rid of the little bit of stubborn fat left over so my abs show through properly.
