If you feel like it will benefit you, or you'll have fun doing it, why not? :)

It's nice as a kpop fan to have that liiiiiiittle bit of language knowledge to help you out.

Do you know hangul? It's crazy easy to learn and it's the best starting point

If it's what you want, then go ahead.

Start by learning hangul, it's really easy. Since you plan to self study, use online resources like this and memrise for memorizing vocabulary. Exposure is key, try navigating Korean sites and use naver's korean to english dictionary (not sure how good it is, though). There's probably more resources out there, just do a bit more research. Good luck.

Yeah why not, if you are interested. Learning some shallow parts of Korean would be easy and not too time consuming, but if you venture into it to understand it all it will be time consuming. I've started to nibble at hangul myself (but since I'm moving to Japan my japanese studies take priority and then there is work etc) and it's pretty fun so far.

You can learn Hangul in a few days, and that's a good starting point. Also, I don't know what your education situation is but there are a lot of online courses that you can take in conjunction with your regular classes. You can even get college/high school credit for it. I know you said you can't take any classes to learn, but there are a lot of options (Brigham Young is one place online) so I'm just making sure.
