Regarding Ten and Khun being monks

is it true that every male in Thailand is expected to serve as a Buddhist monk at least once in his life? my Thai male friends have all went thru phases where they were ordained to be monks for a period of time

apparently both nichkhun and ten have also become monks at some point in their life

i tried researching and this is what i got

http://www.thaibuddhist.com/ordination-of-novice-monks/

In the old days, in particular in the rural areas, many young boys would become novice monks as that was the only way for them to receive an education. As well as having a secular education, they were taught how to read and write. These days, many of the novices that you might see in temples are boys who have been abandoned by their relations. Sometimes their parents have died or they cannot afford to raise them. Then, there is another group who are only novices for a temporary period of time. For example, maybe their grandparent died and they ordained as part of the funeral ritual. Another group of novices are the ones that ordain during their school holidays.

the things i learn because of kpop....

update: other thai celebs being ordained

Yeah this. Are Thai people known to be pale or?

i dont really understand why many people think pale people dont exist in sea

even if you go to countries like indonesia and philippine you'll see sea people with varying skin tones from fair to dark..sure they aren't majority but a good amount of local people especially those who have chinese/western ancestors 3-4 generations back are highly likely to have a fairer skin tone

of course they're definitely thai/indonesian/filipino but a lot of them could possibly have chinese/western ethnicity like ten and nichkhun

Pure Thais are generally more tanned .. Mike angelo is a Thai Chinese. Nadech Kumiguya is Half austrian half thai chinese. Khun and Ten are Chinese from Thailand. so kind of the answer to why they're pale. Actually most of the popular celebs in Thailand are not Thais or pure Thais. Most of them are Chinese or half chinese or half white.

examples ;

Jirayu James. A very popular actor in Thailand. He's Chinese.

Yaya Urassayas Sperbund. half Norwegian half Thai

Has BamBam been a monk?

bambam came to Korea when he was still a kid, so he didn't have time to become a monk.

my personal opinion: thai actors are probably some of the hottest celebs in asia. i also find philippine actresses gorgeous af.

also even among the general public, you'll find a good ratio of people who have fair skin in sea.

But why is it monk from other countries have eyebrows. Lol sorry I was hit with curiousity

Lol sure.

You also need to mentally prepare yourself to shave your head, beard, and your eyebrows. But don’t worry too much – you’ll have what looks like a military crew-cut within 2 weeks, and your eyebrows will look ‘normal’ within 4 weeks. Stop shaving two weeks before you leave the monkhood, and nobody beyond your friends will be the wiser.

Note:

Only Thai monks shave their eyebrows, but why? It’s actually a very recent change within the Thai Buddhist monkhood, only ~200 years ago or so. Supposedly the invading Burmese dressed up soldiers as monks to act as spies, so the Thais had their monks shave their eyebrows to out the Burmese fakes. But . . . I’m not sure if the Burmese quickly figure it out, or what happened to Thai monks that didn’t ‘get the memo’ . . . or even why they still do it despite the war with Burma ending more than a century ago.
