Your apple paintings are really neat btw. For some reason the thick one is intriguing to me. I think it's the texture.

I don't even know I just saw this picture and Seyong pretty much screamed ALICIA DRAW ME PLEASE!

 

But I mainly just wanted to draw his collar bone freckles...

 

 

The more I look at it, the more I don't think I did a very good job. >.<

HAHA, nawh. yeah, the angle is nice! usually we all draw just normal, face up portraits. a change is nice

and yeah, it's just, photoshoots, this and that... so much skin edting is involved. in some instances I understand, but I really disagree with it, regardless of how poor the person's skin is. only minor retouches are allowed for me, because completely editing one's skin is like editing their features (facial, size, etc) and promotes a false image.

LOL...even now, even though I don't have acne anymore, I have scars and dark spots all over, but I don't give a crap about it when it comes to pictures. I'm old and I just don't care what people think anymore.

yeah, my acne isn't so bad anymore. I got teased a lot about my acne as I began to get it at around that age too, but no one else did. life is unfair?!

 

and yup. just seeing the comparisons between the original shots they take for magazine covers and the final product...

The thing is most people have skin like that. Hardly anyone has flawless skin without make up and photoshop. But we are taught that if our skin isn't perfect then how are we going to make friends and get a lover? That's the reason why make up is so popular (well the major one, it's fun too!) You know...thankfully I was never teased about my severe acne. But then again, I was the quiet kid that sat in the back of the classroom and nobody really messed with. I could count my real friends with one hand (and those friends are still with me after 20 years). I find it sad that it's the norm to aim for things that are impossible (flawless skin, perfect body, perfect face, etc), I've never cared for any of it and probably never will. I'll take my scars and dark spots and crazy hair and body of a little boy and I will own them like nobody's business. 

 

That's why I like art. It goes from the extreme surreal to extreme reality and one can choose to live in all of that. Art depicting reality are most striking though because they hit home and heart. Did that make sense? I'm running on empty right now, I might be blabbering...sorry.

 

And yes, it does take guts. It's a beautiful thing to see though! 

 

 

Started a new commission of a pair of shoes. She wants The Little Mermaid. I wish people asked for something outside the Disney princess world, but I guess that's what people want the most. *sigh*

I was picked on for having eczema. It can get really red and itchy and some dude even made me cry once because of it. Middle school is so fun~ Also, for the longest time I wore cardigans even in the Summer because eczema gives you white spots. Thankfulyl they disappeared but it was a bit sad that I couldn't accept it and live life  :lol:

 

You sir/madam must keep on being awesome!

 

 

Sharing my new livejournal~ It only has one post so far lol. I really think my icons are looking much better than last year. Less is indeed more.

you're right about simplicity; never make them too complicated/detailed because icons are small so, most of the time, it naturally looks a bit off to us. too crowded.

They're homeschool kids...elementary and middle school. My nephew, who painted this one, is 9 yrs old. He really doesn't like art and can't even get a stick figure right, so seeing this come out of him was surprising.

Nah...it's okay. He just doesn't like art, never has and probably never will. That's fine. He's more musically inclined (I might have influenced him a bit there as well, oops).
