RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Thinking about making animations just makes my head hurt tbh... it seems so scary... I've only really done 3-6 things digitally other than photography... so I must do more to get more interested! I want to excel in so many different types of media it's going to get to a point where I can't get really really good in a few... maybe even one alone... The human skull thing sounds really trippy! Would confuse a lot of people to be honest. Not sure what I would even say about it myself - because I mean, you never see human faces/skulls as decorative pieces on a fancy piece of wood in houses, do you? So I guess I should consider things more. I don't think I'd emit the skull on the wall thing completely though, because if I only put the wood part of it on the wall, it wouldn't be so obvious (which I'd like it to be). I need to use some sort of influence in my work... for my written art investigation I'll be studying Salvador Dali and James Gleeson... so it might be good if I use them for my inspiration. But I can use any artist really, so I'll see how I do. Nah...making animations is not scary or pain inducing, but it takes A LOT of patience knowing that you'll very likely be doing the same thing over and over again until your eyes bleed. I once had to animate a character dancing the Macarena. I wanted to hurt someone in the process. I ended up animating some balls in the background that would bounce to the beat, that way I didn't have to listen to the song, I'd just animate the character to the beat of the balls instead of the music (and then just get rid of the balls when I was done). Otherwise, I'm sure I would have gone crazy (and I'm already all kinds of crazy, no need to be more). It's always good to find that ONE thing you love and become a master in (but be skilled enough to expand your horizons and evolve). Good luck with it all. I'm sure you'll be great at it. Human skulls on the wall would be trippy? Really? Hmmm...but an animal skull on a human body is equally trippy, no? I...didn't have a human skull hanging on a wall, but I had one for a long time (it got lost during a move). You can put them anywhere, it's never trippy. Or maybe I'm the only one who would be bothered by it? Hmmm... Salvador Dali's work is splendid. I live just an hour and a half away from the Dali museum and make the trip there often. His work is just fantastic.
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Question: what is your favourite art movement? he was actually so damn cute in that last part of the MV and that's so cool :stare: French Impressionism...because of this man:
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
oooo bit of a Monet fan?? I haven't been able to pick a favourite yet tbh... will decide on one soon... never liked fauvism or dadaism... surrealism has a piece of my heart, though... so maybe that Yep...HUGE Monet fan. I've seen his work in person and was really impressed by it. The brushstrokes...the use of light..color...Just...perfect. Surrealism is also fantastic though. Good choice. Idk anything about art movements really since I've never taken an art class, but I love Beksinski. But my absolute FAVORITE painting ever is The Flagellants by Carl Von Marr. It's absolutely breathtaking in person. Every time I go to the art museum back home I just stand in front of it forever and stare while my mom checks out the rest of the exhibits haha I even have it as the wallpaper on my computer. >_< Beautiful work. Carl Marr's piece is gorgeous.
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
I have a soft spot for the Preraffaelites... and Roman sculpture Rossetti was great. I really like his work. :)
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Your concept is awesome, I've always loved that style!! I need to learn me some digital painting T.T I finished my drawing! It's a shame it's on notebook paper Dx http://instagram.com/p/mEMO3xDdtL/ I actually really like that it's on notebook paper. It definitely doesn't hurt the piece. This was about 3 weeks ago...I finished the hair but haven't taken a photo of it...and...I'm kind of stuck now...I don't like it! Damn this pencil practice, I'm getting lazy with it already. Oops... http://instagram.com/p/lS5br_DwMw/ In the meantime, I'm playing with my mannequins. LOL... http://instagram.com/p/lfZY2hDwK1/ Edited March 29, 2014 by RubberDuckyTai
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
I put a blue glaze over my torso from my previous project. Tis exciting~ I want to see it once it's all done!! So...you know that moment you're working on a piece and then just decide to half-ass part of it? With me, it usually happens with hair...So I added hair...and really started strong (the sides), but finished not caring for it at all and just doodling the rest of it. Thankfully this is just pencil practice, but still. http://instagram.com/p/mQ2wCOjwDz/ **sorry for the crappy photo quality...wow**

RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Critiques? Sure...why not... Reminds me of this... http://youtu.be/1wz2bAByWyI http://youtu.be/gFa4ySkv9Dg
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
totally up for that I'm alright with critiquing as well... but I usually don't like being critiqued unless I ask (because I usually already know 98% of what I need to fix/improve on)... our resident art teacher Ducky should be able to deliver us with all sorts of useful infos :hurr: I've been told by friends and fellow artists that I'm too brutally honest when it comes to critiques. Apparently I'm mean. *shrugs* I'm not sure you want me to critique. :._.: I can always give pointers though. You all can critique my work though, I can tell exactly what's wrong with it as soon as I'm done with it...but I'd love fresh views and thoughts on it. RubberDuckyTai 2,731
thanks you two! and yeah, it's just, photoshoots, this and that... so much skin edting is involved. in some instances I understand, but I really disagree with it, regardless of how poor the person's skin is. only minor retouches are allowed for me, because completely editing one's skin is like editing their features (facial, size, etc) and promotes a false image. I was supposed to attach something regarding that to the images but I forgot aha. Photoshop is getting out of hand nowadays. People just don't even look like themselves anymore. I find it interesting when people say "so and so has flawless skin." Uhm, probably not, they're just photoshopped. I had severe acne since the age of 10 (worse than the photo of you), the only "photoshop" I got for my senior year of high school was heavy make-up so that it didn't show. LOL...even now, even though I don't have acne anymore, I have scars and dark spots all over, but I don't give a crap about it when it comes to pictures. I'm old and I just don't care what people think anymore. So I applaud you for this series. A lot of people wouldn't dare post things like this. It's reality though, so no need to hide from it. RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Is it weird that I still find you gorgeous?  Not weird...he's still handsome. :)
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
The thing is most people have skin like that. Hardly anyone has flawless skin without make up and photoshop. But we are taught that if our skin isn't perfect then how are we going to make friends and get a lover? That's the reason why make up is so popular (well the major one, it's fun too!) It's really easy to create a problem that doesn't even exist like stretch marks and advertise it as something ugly and disgusting. It takes a lot of guts to show your real self in a society that tells us we are never good enough. /rant My nickname is Sei so you can call me that. No problem handsome <3 Good rant! You know...thankfully I was never teased about my severe acne. But then again, I was the quiet kid that sat in the back of the classroom and nobody really messed with. I could count my real friends with one hand (and those friends are still with me after 20 years). I find it sad that it's the norm to aim for things that are impossible (flawless skin, perfect body, perfect face, etc), I've never cared for any of it and probably never will. I'll take my scars and dark spots and crazy hair and body of a little boy and I will own them like nobody's business. That's why I like art. It goes from the extreme surreal to extreme reality and one can choose to live in all of that. Art depicting reality are most striking though because they hit home and heart. Did that make sense? I'm running on empty right now, I might be blabbering...sorry. And yes, it does take guts. It's a beautiful thing to see though! Started a new commission of a pair of shoes. She wants The Little Mermaid. I wish people asked for something outside the Disney princess world, but I guess that's what people want the most. *sigh* http://instagram.com/p/mv7DhZDwDL/ Edited April 18, 2014 by RubberDuckyTai
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
I was picked on for having eczema. It can get really red and itchy and some dude even made me cry once because of it. Middle school is so fun~ Also, for the longest time I wore cardigans even in the Summer because eczema gives you white spots. Thankfulyl they disappeared but it was a bit sad that I couldn't accept it and live life  You sir/madam must keep on being awesome! Sharing my new livejournal~ It only has one post so far lol. I really think my icons are looking much better than last year. Less is indeed more. http://n000.livejournal.com/ Madam. :) Icons are looking good. Simplicity is key. ooo ducky another shoe commission~ I'm gonna buy some fabric or shoes soon to try some stuff Sei, I like it :ahmagah: Yes! And I just got another one. They want the Muppets though! YAY! No more princess shoes. Taught my kids Sumi-e today! My nephew is one of my art students, so I took a picture of his work. He's the least artistically inclined kid I know, but he did so good with this for a first try. I'm a freakin proud aunt, so I have to share. RubberDuckyTai 2,731
you're right about simplicity; never make them too complicated/detailed because icons are small so, most of the time, it naturally looks a bit off to us. too crowded. nawwwwwh that's so sweet! how old are they? They're homeschool kids...elementary and middle school. My nephew, who painted this one, is 9 yrs old. He really doesn't like art and can't even get a stick figure right, so seeing this come out of him was surprising.
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
ohhhhhhhhhhh okay then. nawh, maybe his talents are yet to come out! I love looking at those childhood drawings that I used to think were amazing, but were really... horrible... haha. Nah...it's okay. He just doesn't like art, never has and probably never will. That's fine. He's more musically inclined (I might have influenced him a bit there as well, oops). I love looking at my old drawings. I was one awesome artist as a kid. Haha! RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Trying something different. The theme is cutie Zico lol. I feel like it needs to be brighter. I have issues with the brightness of my icons. Tweak the brightness and contrast on there, Make Zico pop out a bit more. Love that kid's face. RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Like this? There's something about that greyish background color. Is there a way to make it lighter? It might just be me, my left eye is currently useless, but I cannot quite pinpoint it.
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
You probably mean the background. The opacity should be a bit lower. The problem is that the image itself has a lot of white. Right now, it all has the same tonal value. The image could have all the white it wants...as long as you can make Zico stand out more, then you're golden. RubberDuckyTai 2,731
So it's not my art but this happened Ack! Ouch. Well, at least it's the infinity sign and not member names, that way you won't regret it later in life. LOL
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
The symbol means more for me besides the fact that I happen to like the band! >.< I'M NOT THAT STUPID lol too distracted to see your question, Jack... it's on my back
RubberDuckyTai 2,731
Haha it's fine really! Everyone is just saying "OH YOU GOT IT BECAUSE THAT'S YOUR FAVORITE BOY BAND?!" Because no that is not the reason at all. I'm just getting lazy with trying to explain it because I feel like that's all I do. xD Haha! You're better than me, I'd just be too lazy and go "yeah, I did it 'cause I like Infinite..." and walk away. I like it though, good job choosing. :)
