Photoshop is getting out of hand nowadays. People just don't even look like themselves anymore. I find it interesting when people say "so and so has flawless skin." Uhm, probably not, they're just photoshopped. I had severe acne since the age of 10 (worse than the photo of you), the only "photoshop" I got for my senior year of high school was heavy make-up so that it didn't show. LOL...even now, even though I don't have acne anymore, I have scars and dark spots all over, but I don't give a crap about it when it comes to pictures. I'm old and I just don't care what people think anymore.

The thing is most people have skin like that. Hardly anyone has flawless skin without make up and photoshop. But we are taught that if our skin isn't perfect then how are we going to make friends and get a lover? That's the reason why make up is so popular (well the major one, it's fun too!) It's really easy to create a problem that doesn't even exist like stretch marks and advertise it as something ugly and disgusting.

It takes a lot of guts to show your real self in a society that tells us we are never good enough.

Good rant!

You know...thankfully I was never teased about my severe acne. But then again, I was the quiet kid that sat in the back of the classroom and nobody really messed with. I could count my real friends with one hand (and those friends are still with me after 20 years). I find it sad that it's the norm to aim for things that are impossible (flawless skin, perfect body, perfect face, etc), I've never cared for any of it and probably never will. I'll take my scars and dark spots and crazy hair and body of a little boy and I will own them like nobody's business.

That's why I like art. It goes from the extreme surreal to extreme reality and one can choose to live in all of that. Art depicting reality are most striking though because they hit home and heart. Did that make sense? I'm running on empty right now, I might be blabbering...sorry.

And yes, it does take guts. It's a beautiful thing to see though!

I was picked on for having eczema. It can get really red and itchy and some dude even made me cry once because of it. Middle school is so fun~ Also, for the longest time I wore cardigans even in the Summer because eczema gives you white spots. Thankfulyl they disappeared but it was a bit sad that I couldn't accept it and live life

You sir/madam must keep on being awesome!

Sharing my new livejournal~ It only has one post so far lol. I really think my icons are looking much better than last year. Less is indeed more.

There's something about that greyish background color. Is there a way to make it lighter? It might just be me, my left eye is currently useless, but I cannot quite pinpoint it.

You probably mean the background. The opacity should be a bit lower. The problem is that the image itself has a lot of white.

Right now, it all has the same tonal value. The image could have all the white it wants...as long as you can make Zico stand out more, then you're golden.

True. I should add some colour so the whites aren't so white x) Ah, it's fun working with textures though. It's a shame I don't use them more often.
